Chapter 8

The next day Umi attended school. She saw Kotori talking to Honoka inside the classroom.

"Umi-chan! Are you ok now? Why didn't you contacted us. We were really worried about you." Honoka approached Umi. She was really worried about her childhood bestfriend.

"I'm sorry...but I'm really fine now..." Umi said forcing a smile. She didn't looked directly at Honoka.

"Good morning Ko- Minami-san! I'm sorry for what happened at the hospital" she turned to Kotori and apologized

'Ah she's the girl from the hospital. I think her name is Umi Sonoda' Kotori just smiled at her and told her it's ok.

Without saying another word, Umi sat on her seat.

"Umi...chan..." Honoka said worriedly

(After school...)

"Kotori-chan! Umi-chan! Let's go!" Honoka grabbed their hands

"Aa- Wait a minute Honoka!" Umi said struggling from Honoka's grip

On the other hand Kotori just smiled. She felt that the same things happened before but suddenly she felt a sharp pain piercing her head and because of the pain she touched her forehead.

Umi noticed it but hesitated to asked her. Kotori saw Umi's worried expression and she just smiled at her. When she saw Kotori's smile she immediately turn to the other direction to hide her blushing face.

(At the clubroom...)

"Hey guys sorry we're a bit la...te..." said Nozomi

When Nozomi entered the clubroom she felt a weird atmosphere inside it. She saw Umi and Kotori sitting opposite with each other, not saying another word and looking away from each other.

"What-" before Eli can speak she was stopped by Nozomi telling Eli to leave it to her.

Nozomi asked Honoka, who was sitting awkwardly in between them, what happened.

Honoka just smiled at Nozomi and said that it suddenly became like this.

"I...I r...remember I have some errands to do... I'm sorry but I need to go first... Excuse me..." Umi stood up and immediately excused herself

"Wait Umi-chanー" Honoka tried to stopped Umi

"Let's leave her for now Honoka-chan" Nozomi said

The first year trio and Nico suddenly came and saw Umi leave the clubroom.

"What happened nyaaa?" asked Rin curiously

"I think we should go home for now. We'll continue this tomorrow" said Eli not answering Rin's question

Without further question, all of them obeyed Eli

(The next day...)

Umi attend her morning archery practice. She can't concentrate on the target.

"Umi!" Umi heard someone familiar called her when she turned around she was surprised to see Eli standing behind her.

Eli asked Umi about the cause of her problem

"Why are you avoiding Kotori?" Eli asked

Umi didn't answer Eli instead she just averted her gaze towards the floor

"Are you still blaming yourself about the accident" Eli asked again

Still Umi didn't answer

"Umi!" this time Eli's voice became somewhat louder

She look at Eli and tears ran down her face

"Yes! I'm still blaming myself about what happened... if only... if only... I... listened to her this will not happen... I don't know how to face her! Well I guess this is my punishment! I lost one of my important friend and it's all my fault!"

All of Umi's hidden emotions suddenly went out

"Umi... it's not your fault... stop crying now... I'm sorry... I think you should not avoid Kotori. You should talk to her like usual. Maybe that way she can remember you. It's just partial amnesia there is a chance to regain her memories." Eli embraced her

Umi stop crying. She wipe her tears with her handkerchief.

"Where is the level-headed Umi I know? I know you can do it Umi. We're always here for you." Eli cheered Umi

"Thanks Eli" Umi gave Eli a warm smile

(At the classroom...)

Umi saw Kotori in her seat. She decided not to run anymore.

"O-ohayou Minami-san. I know this is a bit sudden but I would like to introduced myself properly. I'm Umi Sonoda. It's a pleasure to meet you." feeling a bit embarrassed she bowed her head deeply to hide her blushing face

Kotori saw Umi's blushing face. 'c-cute' she thought to herself.

"Ah... It's nice to meet you too, Sonodaー Umi-chan~" she said sheepishly
