"But you have friends?" My mother pressed.
"Back off of her." Aunt Agatha snapped. "She said yes."
"Don't tell me how I talk to my daughter." She snarled. And they were at it again. I rolled my eyes and continued dragging my bags down the stairs.
"Oh Raven, you know if the rules would allow it I would let you join my coven." My mother jumped in front of me. I smiled.
"We have to make our own families." I smiled. "And that's in two years! Don't worry about it Mom. I'm serious. In no time at all I'll be back for Halloween."
"But we'll miss the autumn equinox together!" She started to cry. I smiled and hugged her. My father walked down the stairs and laughed at the site of my mom crying.
"Mi amor, don't drown her in your tears." He ran his hand across her back and he walked to the other side of me. He messed up my hair with hand.
"Good luck in school Mija." He smiled. "Make us proud."
"I'll certainly try." I laughed. Mom let go of me. I grabbed my bags and a few of the coven members who I had already said goodbye to started waving.
"I'll miss you all! Te amo!" I laughed and walked through the front door for purely ceremonial reasons. As soon as I closed the door, I snapped my hands and apparated in front of the school.
"Hey stranger!" Wen called and dragged her stuff over to me. "Wanna be my roommate?"
"Obviously." I laughed. "I don't think I could handle dealing with anyone else."
"Good." She laughed. We walked in and followed the instructions down into the catacombs. Our sector was called the Goody Proctor section. We snatched one of the premium rooms and started unloading our stuff. Her side of the room ended up being purple and black with her decorations and mine was gold and black. It created a nice atmosphere. We put potted cacti everywhere. We'd previously arranged that she would get a big black fluffy rug for between our two beds and I would buy shower curtains and a bath mat. These additions made the room pop, and the rug allowed us to have a loose floorboard with all the illegal items. Music downloaded on thumb drives, our phones and chargers, our laptops, gum, etc... They all fit nicely in sections under the floorboards. Most were already loose from previous users.
"Guess what class we have now?" Wen bounced up. I laughed.
"Math?" I asked.
"No! No more math! We already did high school! Don't remind me of the horrid times!" She shivered in theatrics. "Potions! With your boyfriend!"
"Yay!" I mocked. She laughed. We pulled out bags on our shoulders and headed over to the potions class. We took our seats and I looked at the screen. Professor Sanderson wasn't in yet, meaning he wasn't either. The screen showed we were going to start off with a quiz about the ingredients from yesterday's potion.
"I think it's crazy no one has asked about the prophecy yet." Wen muttered to herself. I glanced at her with wide eyes.
"Shh!" I hid my face in my palms. "Can we please not bring that up?"
"It's in the public records." She shrugged.
"Since when do young people read public records?" I scoffed. "I'd like to escape that, please."
"Fine. We'll talk about it later." She shrugged. "There's still a lot I don't know. And if I get dragged into-"
"No one is getting dragged into anything." I rolled my eyes. "Not all prophecies come true."
