Millie's P.O.V
Me, Ponyboy, and Johnny all met Dally at the corner of Pickett and Sutton. We were early, so we walked all around town. The boys blew straws at waitresses and I had to apologize for them. Then we walked by The Dingo. I didn't like The Dingo all that much, because it was filled with hoods and JD's who were always trying to pick me up. We leaned into car windows and sometimes hopped into backseats, picking up on town gossip. A fight broke out between two people and I made us leave, because I hate watching violence when it's unnecessary, and besides, I didn't want to have any run-ins with the cops.
While the sun was setting, we chased a bunch of kids through a field. I'm pretty sure we were all just following along with Dallas- none of us really had any urge to terrorize children except for old Dally. After we were done chasing those poor kids, it was dark out, and we were able to sneak under the fence. I had made sure to wear jeans today- I hated it when we snuck under fences and all and my skirt would ride up.
We sat down behind two girls, and that's when my eyes widened. I leaned over to Johnny.
"That's the girl I've been telling you about." I whispered. Johnny smiled and pointed to the brown haired girl in front of us and I nodded. I decided to tap her shoulder. She turned around, looked at me, and smiled. I felt a few butterflies in my stomach, she sure was pretty.
"Hi. I'm Millie."
"Marcia. I recognize you from school last year." I felt another rush of giddiness flow through my body. She knew who I was! "I think your red eye is really cool, by the way."
I blushed and immediately looked at Johnny, who was giving me such a shit-eating grin that I almost laughed.
I talked to Marcia for a few minutes, and I could already feel myself growing to like her. No, you idiot, I thought. She probably has a boyfriend. But for some reason, I knew that even if she did have a boyfriend, I would've been way better for her. Soc boys don't treat their girlfriend's right most of the time. Our conversation got cut short as Dally started talking dirty to Marcia's friend. I stared at him. I really, really wished he would shut up. I had been having a good time talking to Marcia.
Dally just kept talking. He kept going, and even my ears got red. Not as much as Ponyboy, who looked like a tomato, or Johnny, who left to go get a coke, but they were tinted. It was more frustration- I never really liked swear words, or dirty talking. He put his feet up on the back of the redhead's chair and just kept going.
"Take your feet off my chair and shut your trap."
I was kind of shocked- I had never seen anyone talk to Dallas Winston like that before. Dally didn't listen to her, though.
"Who's gonna make me?"
"Jesus Christ, Dal'..." I muttered, already tired of his antics. I just wanted to talk to Marcia.
"That's the greaser that jockeys for the Slash J sometimes," Marcia said to her friend, and then she turned to me and whispered, "You know him?" I just nodded.
"Yeah, he's my buddy." I whispered back, glaring daggers at him. But then I looked back at Marcia, and I just looked at her as she looked at Dally. I still couldn't get over how pretty she was. I was a bit zoned out until I heard yelling and saw Dally leave.
"Are you gonna start in on us?" The redhead asked Ponyboy, and I almost laughed at how fast he shook his head.
"No."
"Yeah, you don't gotta worry about my little brother over here, he's nothing like Dally." I remarked, smiling at the girl.
"You don't look the type. What's your names?" She smiled at me and Pony. She seemed to be sweet when she wasn't angry.
