"Get up Parker!" yelled Parker's mom from downstairs.
Parker groaned into his pillow. Today was his first day of 7th grade and he was not happy. He wanted to stay in bed all day like anyone else would on the first day of school.
Parker dragged himself to his closet to pick out some clothes for today. He went with a plain white t-shirt and nike shorts. He walked downstairs to see his mom making eggs for him.
"Hey, eggs?" his mom asked while pouring eggs on his plate, as if he had a choice.
"Sure, thanks." Parker sat down and started eating. His dad came downstairs and kissed Parkers mom on the cheek.
"Good Morning Ronda, good morning Parker." said his dad.
Parker looked down at his watch.
"Oh god I have to go."
Parker ran upstairs to get his backpack and ran back down to catch his bus.
"Bye love y'all!" he yelled from the doorway.
As he was walking to his stop, he was thinking about how this year was gonna go. In mid-thought he sorta ran into a stop sign.
"Ow" he mumbled to himself.
After his bus came, he got on and sat by himself.
When he got to school, he sat next to a few of his friends by the window. When the bell rang they had to go to their advisory.
As he was walking to Ms. Elk's class, he ran into a boy, dropping his books.
"Oh crap I'm sor-" the boy started.
"Woah" the boy said under his breath, he couldn't believe what he ran into.
Parker stared back into his dark brown eyes. The boy was obviously asian, dark hair, small eyes, glasses.
"I- I'm Parker" he stuttered.
The boy smiled at him. Not losing eye contact with his gorgeous hazel eyes.
"Lex" he said.
After a moment of stares. Parker coughed and picked up the rest of his things.
"Well- um see ya." said Parker
"Yeah, see ya." Lex said, a little disappointed that he was gone.
Parker went into his advisory. Taking a deep breath he thought to himself
"This year is gonna be great."At lunch, Parker sat 3 tables down from Lex. Every time Parker looked up at Lex, he was staring back. Parker quickly looked down at his pizza and continued eating.
At recess, Parker played basketball while of course being distracted by Lex.
Lex was sitting with a few girls, friends he had made in earlier classes. "Lex what are you staring at?" asked Avery, looking in the direction Lex was.
"Huh? Oh- no one haha" Lex stuttered embarrassed.
Lex knew he wasn't 100% straight. All his life he's liked guys just at least a little bit. But no one knows that- except Parker he hoped.
Parker missed the ball by a lot and it rolled towards Lex.
Lex's heart started beating faster and faster the closer he came. The ball touched Lex's foot.
Lex (trying to impress Parker) picked up the ball and threw it at him. Lex wasn't good at sports. But at this point, he'd do anything to make Parker notice him more.
Parker caught the ball, smiled, and winked at Lex as he walked away. Parker thought to himself
"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT WHY WOULD YOU WINK AT HIM HE DOESNT LIKE YOU STUPID"
Lex froze.
"He winked" Lex whispered. Lex sat back down and smiled the rest of recess.Lex walked into his 8th hour later and froze completely when he found out Parker was in that class.
Lex sat as far away from Parker as possible, even though it wont matter because the teacher would give them assigned seats.
The teacher introduced himself.
"Hello, I'm Mr. Smith. I'm yall's math teacher. Now before we get started, I'm giving yall assigned seats."
The class groaned. Mr. Smith called names and pointed to desks- looking at a sheet of paper which told the students where to sit.
"Parker Elliot- right there." Mr Smith pointed to a seat towards the back.
"Lex Tran-"
"shit" mumbled Lex under his breath"
"Behind Parker."
Lex silently walked over there and sat behind him. Staring at his gorgeous blonde hair on the back of his head.
Parker thought he should say something- but stayed silent. They should at least be friends right?
Finally Parker turned and said
"Hey, Lex right?" Parker asked pretending to forget his name.
"Oh yeah hey" said Lex, waiting for him to say something.
"Were you here last year?" asked Parker.
"Yeah I just wasnt very popular so.."
Lex silently congratulated himself for making small talk.
"Oh okay, well maybe things will turn around this year then."
"Yeah let's just hope." Lex smiled.
Parker laughed then turned around as instructed by Mr. Smith.
Lex thought to himself
"Things will turn around this year Elliot, things will turn around."
