"Mein kuch madat kardu koali Didi?" Bondita asked as she entered kitchen. "Aap uth gayi, why don't you take this coffee for Anirudh babu?" without even listening to answer koali left with tray of tea.

Bondita nervously stood in front of Anirudh's study. Even after knocking twice when she got no reply, bondita walked in.

"Aap kuch dhund rahi hai?" a startled bondita almost spilt the coffee. She turned around to face Anirudh. His morning messy hairs made him look so cute. She kept starring but when he raised his left eyebrow she uttered "woh coffee"and forward him the cup like a puppet. "Aap coffee dhund rahi thi?" Anirudh again asked her. "haan...., nahi mein toh aapko.."and when she saw him controlling his laugh. She handed him coffee and brisk walked out of the room.

Her heart was racing and her brain couldn't stop thinking how she made a complete fool out of herself. On other hand, smile won't leave Anirudh's face. 'idiot' he whispered.

"Bahu, get ready. Hum kulldevi ke mandir jaa rahe hai. Woh... tum saare gehne pehena huh. Samaj rahi hona?" Trilochan babu hesitatingly asked Bondita. " Ji kaka sasurji." she replied getting the hint.

Their every move was stalked. Bondita, her stay in Bombay and education was talk of the town."Bahu, bhog chadado."Kaka said to bondita as he took blessings from Devi maa. Bondita did as instructed and took pandit's blessings "Panditji yeh hamare Anirudh ki biwi hai." kaka said. "Sunna he bahut buddhimaan ho. Bumbai mein Roy Chaudhary khandaan ka naam ucha kiya hai tumne . Kabhi tumhare kaka sasurji ka shir (head) mat jhukne dena. Khush raho. "panditji said. As they descended the stairs of Mandir a women dress in torn saree followed them. "Zamindar babu, meri baat ek baar sunn lijiye. Mein..." Trilochan babu raised his hand indicating her to stop."Bahu, tum aur bihari chalo hum aate hai". Bondita saw the women joining her hands as if requesting.

Soon they reach home. "Devi maa ke darshan se maan praphullit ho gaya. Kyu bahu?"Kaka asked. "Haa maa ka ashirwaad he." she answered.

"Mein toh yeh raksha dhaga dena hi bhul gayi sasurji ko." she came downstairs that's when she saw the old women from temple before, sitting on porch and curiosity took over her. " Kaki, aap kaka sasurji se milne aayi hai kya? par woh ghar pe nahi hai. Aap mujhe keh sakti hai, mein aapki koi madat kardu?"Bondita said.

"Aap meri koi madat nahi kar payengi." she said. "Aap jab tak bataengi nahi toh kese pata chalega ke mein madat kar sakti hu ya nahi?"
"Mujhe paiso ki sakt jarurat hai malkin. Tulsipur ke uttar mein mere zamin hai usske badle kya aap mujhe paise dilva sakti hai. Mein aapke aage haath jodti hu meri baachi ki zindagi ka savaal hai." tear were on the verge of falling from her tired eyes.

"Mein aapse umar me choti hu. Aapko haath jodne ki koi jarurat nahi hai. kya hua hai apki beti ko?" Bondita asked. "Uski 2mahine pehele shaddi hui hai . Humne unhe shaddi ke 1 mahine baad dahej(dowry) ki, baaki ki aadhi rakam dene ka vaada kiya tha par mere pati shaddi ke 2 hafto baad gujar gaye.Unke dava mein saare paise..." she sniffed. "Uske sasural wale rishta todne ki dhamki de rahe hai.Kuch madat kar dijiye."

"Bahu, yeh yaha kya chal raha hai?"kaka asked as he saw the women crying.
"Malik, mein....." Before she could speak any further he interrupted her "Bahu, mere liye panni lana." She can't disobey him so she went inside to petch water.

She handed kaka the glass. She stood thinking about how she should ask him anything regarding that matter. "Tum inn sab mamlo mein apna wakt gavha(waste) mat karo. Iski zimmedaari maine somnath ko di hai."he said and took off to his room.
