CHAPTER ELEVEN

When I wake up the next morning, the apartment feels empty. It's not a pleasant feeling to wake up alone and in a strange place. It just feels . . . odd. Still dressed in my pyjamas, I wander into the kitchen in search for a glass of water.

I expect Kade to already be gone. Freshly shaved and dressed in an expensive tailored suit for his daily meetings. Instead of that, I find him standing in the kitchen wearing a pair of blue cotton briefs flipping eggs. The other pan is filled to the brim with, sausages, tomatoes, and mushrooms. This looks delightfully nice.

My cheeks go red with embarrassment. You'd think from the extensive education that Kade would know what pants are, and maybe when it's appropriate to wear them. Instead, he feels completely comfortable standing in his underwear.

"Hey," I awkwardly greet.

I'm not completely sure how he feels about last night or what he remembers. It's hard to decide how much of my memory is real or what extent has been warped from my over active imagination. Last night felt too much like a dream. I find it hard to understand why he would want someone like me.

Sure, I do share the same body features as Alessia, but there must be more. There has to be something special about Alessia to make risking it all worth protect her. I don't understand it, there has to be more to the puzzle than what I'm seeing now.

Kade returns the wave which is followed by a bright grin. I take a seat by the kitchen bench and cross my arms over my chest. With a pleasant smile, I lean against the bench.

"What are you cooking?" I could see the fundamentals for a breakfast serving, but with Kade, it could potentially be anything. The heavenly smell of food is making me hungry. To be honest, I'm game for trying anything.

"Just a mix." He shrugs his shoulders.

"Sounds good." I smile. "How are you feeling?" From the amount of alcohol I consumed myself, I'm surprised I didn't feeling horrible.

"Great, yourself?"

"I had a good night," I reply.

"That pleases me to hear so." He winks.

"Okay."

"I have a meeting soon but I wanted to make you food," Kade explains.

"Thank you, I appreciate it." I'm perfectly capable of cooking my own food, but the fact he's gone to the effort warms my heart.

"Alessia's manager will be in touch with you today. She's on board and excited to work with you. I'm not sure what she's planning, but I believe it could be an appearance."

"That sounds fun." Meeting with Alessia's manager sound exciting yet so nerve wracking. If she sends me on an appearance, it'll be my next chance to actually experience the hardest part of the job. Hopefully, it'll involve having either Jenna or Kade by my side.
