IM STUCK WITH YOUSTUCK WITH YOU

DECEMBER 23rd
daniel and corbyn didn't have to walk very far to get down to the lobby. all it took was one staircase and they were right in the main hallway. the hotel was pretty small considering the town wasn't too popular and most people who stayed there had their own cabins and lake houses.
they walked to the front desk where a petite girl with long brown hair, green eyes, and a very tired looking expression, sat on her phone."there's the pop stars," she joked, setting her phone aside, "i thought you guys left with the other three?"
corbyn shook his head, "we overslept," he sighed, "do you by any chance know what's going on?" somewhere in the midst of corbyn's question, daniel had slightly crouched, resting his chin on the brunet's shoulder. "get away," he cringed, pushing daniel off of him.
"yeah the storm started about two hours ago. your friends just made it out in time. the whole state is practically shut down, the power is out everywhere, and nobody is getting out for at least another few days," she explained, giving the two boys a sympathetic smile. "you guys probably wanted to go home and see your families," she guessed.
daniel nodded, slightly lowering his head, "do you know when the power will be back?" he questioned.
"their working on the generator right now. give it around fifteen minutes," she responded, "also, you guys can stay in your room charge free until everything gets back to normal. you two and another family down the hall are the only guests left here. take advantage of everything. free food, drinks, you can use the game rooms and run around the halls. make yourself at home."
"thank you..." corbyn paused realizing he never got her name.
"devyn."
"thank you devyn," both boys accidentally said in union.
the two band mates proceeded back down the hall, not really knowing what to say. they were trapped together in a random hotel in the middle of nowhere for christmas. it wasn't the worst thing to happen, but it definitely was not ideal.
"never thought i'd be stuck with you for christmas," corbyn mumbled as he gripped the railing to the staircase.
"hey, don't make it sound like a bad thing," daniel nudged his body into corbyn's, maybe a bit too harshly, banging the boy's hip against the metal rail.
"ow!" corbyn winced, stopping in his tracks.
daniel chuckled, turning back around to help him, "i'm sorry," he apologized. he grabbed corbyn's wrist to guide him up the remaining stairs, "that was harder than intended," he said guiltily.
"sure," corbyn scoffed.
when they made it back to their room, they hung around for a bit, waiting for the generator to kick in. corbyn was wrapped up in a blanket, leaning against the headboard while daniel was rummaging through the few snacks that were thrown around the kitchen portion of the small room.
"my mom is gonna kill me," corbyn groaned. he scrolled through the previous messages they'd exchanged with a slight frown. she was so excited that he was coming home for the holidays as he hadn't even been able to return for his birthday or thanksgiving. the last time the family was all together was late august. "how did both of our alarms not go off?" he sighed.
daniel walked back over to the bed, unwrapping a granola bar, "i don't know," he shrugged, "i probably set it to pm instead of am, maybe you did the same," he suggested.
a series of knocks muffled against the door, interrupting the two's conversation. daniel opened the door, smiling when he saw it was just devyn. "hey guys, bad news," she frowned, peeking a bit passed daniel to make sure corbyn was able to hear, "the generator is having some difficulties and it probably won't be up and running until tonight."
daniel groaned, "is there anywhere in this place we can get service? i really need to call my mom."
devyn bit her lip, trying to think of a solution, "i mean you could try the balcony in room 309. i was able to get some service there early this morning when the storm hit." she stepped back away from the door, glancing at the room she had mentioned, "yeah the room key is on the floor under the room number. it's one of the nicest rooms in the hotel so the crew go in and out of it a lot."
"thanks dev," daniel said politely even though he was still pretty annoyed over the generator situation.
she smiled, "no problem," just before she could walk away, she turned back around as if she remembered something, "we have a bunch of board games, dvds, and flashlights downstairs in the lobby. just grab what you want."
the two boys thanked her again before discussing what their plan for the remainder of the day. corbyn stood up from the bed and hobbled himself over to daniel who's back was leaned against the kitchen counter. he let his body fall against the younger's, assuming he was going to be caught. he felt a strong pressure squeeze into his lower back and haul him up so his chin rested on daniel's shoulder. "this sucks," he murmured, "i just want to go home and see my mom."
"i know corb, i know," daniel let out a long exhale as he continued to embrace his best friend, "we'll be out in a few days." although daniel's mindset on the situation was far from positive, he wanted to bring the brunet some joy.
corbyn pulled back from the hug and patted around his pockets to make sure he had his phone. "i guess we should go try to call our families."
