TIS THE SEASONFOR SOME LOVE GIVING
🌲💙
"and that is how your father and i spent our first christmas together."
daniel proudly finished explaining the story to his three babies. well, they weren't babies anymore, or at least two of them weren't. rayna and colton were both seven while their baby brother asher was two. no matter what age though, daniel would always cherish them like the little angels they were.
"so you and daddy accidentally fell in love?" rayna questioned. corbyn sat beside her, laying a blanket over her little body. the fireplace behind them provided a fair amount of warmth, but it was pretty chilly outside.
"accidentally," corbyn confirmed with a smile. he repositioned asher who had crawled into his lap and pressed a kiss to his head. it was beyond the little boy's bedtime, but they were able to keep him up for the joyous day which happened to be christmas eve.
it was now colton's turn for a question. he was always a curious child and quite smart for only being in the first grade, "so is this why we spend every christmas in wolfeboro?"
"you got it bud," daniel reached his hand out to high five his son, who graciously accepted, loving the attention on him.
"and is my middle name devyn because the nice lady was named devyn?" rayna asked. she looked up at her brunet father with her sparkling eyes that glowed golden in the reflection of the fiery flames. he couldn't help but internally melt at her gaze upon him. oh how he adored his precious daughter.
"yes sweetie," corbyn ruffled up her hair which he had just finished brushing fifteen minutes prior. she smiled, scooting her small sized body closer to him. he lovingly wrapped her in a side hug, still using his other arm to hold the half asleep toddler.
"i want hugs," colton whined. rayna stuck her tongue out at him as he repeatedly kicked his feet against the floor in a tantrum like manner. daniel stood up from the ground and picked up the little boy, swinging him around in his arms. colton giggled, feeling his stomach drop every time daniel pretended to throw him, "stop!" he said through laughter, reaching out to playfully hit his father. daniel finally stopped the 'torture' on the little boy and brought him closer into his chest. he kissed the boy's head before taking notice of corbyn who had been staring up at him in admiration.
his family was perfect...
eventually the two parents got their kids settled into bed after resolving a fight over which cookies to leave out for santa. they decided on two chocolate chip ones which corbyn had baked and one store bought sugar cookie per colton's request.
corbyn held a warm mug of hot chocolate in his palms, leaning up against the kitchen counter. daniel stood opposite of him, taking a bite of one of the cookies on the santa plate. "why are you looking at me like that?" daniel asked through a mouthful of cookie. although he wasn't the biggest fan of chocolate related foods, corbyn sure knew how to bake.
the brunet scoffed and set his mug on the counter behind him before walking closer to his husband. he grabbed a napkin from the island and wiped at the corners of his mouth as if it was some kind of fatherly instinct. "christ, it's like i have four children," he rolled his eyes. daniel shrugged, grabbing the shorter's waist and pulling his baby closer.
"speaking of children," he smirked. he slipped he hands under corbyn's hoodie, fingers tracing circles on the skin of his hips, "we said we wanted four didn't we?" he hummed.
"you said you wanted four," corbyn corrected, "i said i wouldn't mind four."
daniel smirked, pressing his forehead down against corbyn's. "right...that means we want four," he felt corbyn's arms wrap around his shoulders, looping together around the back of his neck, "asher's two, he'll be three in six months..."
"ugh," corbyn groaned, "don't remind me." seeing his little one's grow up was harder than he imagined. "let's forget the kids topic for now. that involves going through the whole adoption process and i don't want to think about that," he huffed. he removed his arms from around daniel's neck and rewrapped them around his torso, resting his head on his chest.
daniel knew how hard it was for corbyn to only pick one child to take home from the orphanage. the thought of leaving the rest without loving homes ripped at his heart. "mmh," daniel hummed. he kissed the top of corbyn's head, burying his face into the brunet fluff of hair, "my precious angel," he mumbled.
"should we go to bed early? rayna and colton will be waking us up right at sunrise," corbyn chuckled, pulling away from his husband.
daniel nodded, "yea...wait before we go up i want to show you something." he grabbed his phone from within his pocket and opened up to the selection of photos he had been looking at earlier. "these were taken exactly ten years ago," he handed his phone to corbyn who smiled and began swiping through them.
"can you believe that if that snowstorm never happened and if we were actually smart and woke up that morning, we probably wouldn't be married?" corbyn marveled at the idea. it was almost impossible to imagine his life without daniel as his husband. he came across a selfie from the two boys sitting out in the snow. daniel had his lips pressed to the brunet's cheek, leaving a warm kiss against his cold face. "aww we were babies," he laughed. he exited out of the pictures and opened up daniel's iphone camera, taking a quick silly selfie of his own before handing it back to the blond.
"you know i never delete those right?" the dominant of the two asked. he had a whole photo album of pictures corbyn would randomly take on his phone, dating back to before they were even together. "you have such a pretty face he teased," pinching at the skin of corbyn's blushing cheeks.
"yeah yeah," corbyn scoffed, "let's just get to bed already!"
TEN YEARS AND ONE DAY EARLIER...
