Things were now back to normal. Typing away in your desk and answering emails, you wished your days at home were extended. Not that you didn't like the environment of the precinct, ofcourse. After replaying every single footage, paranoia had found its way into your head. Constantly reminding you that things weren't calm yet.
The question also lingered.
Why would that person bug your place? How much were they able to see? They couldn't see much thanks to the kitchen wall but his privacy had been invaded. Yours too. Even though you already know what the answer might be, you were still open to other possible options. Anything was possible at this point.
Checking the calendar, there was only a month left before the Fukuo Kai final raid were to finally happen. Two months before the Shie Hassaikai raid would take place. Two months before you would know the outcome of your questionable relationship with Chisaki Kai.
Resting your cheek on your palm, Hawk's words replayed in your head. To be four steps ahead of heroes was never an easy thing. With sufficient evidence that Overhaul had been spending a considerable amount of time visiting, it wouldn't be a surprise if they took you in for questioning.
"(y/n)." Tsukauchi knocked on your cubicle. "D'you have any plans for lunch?"
"No. What's up?"
"Have lunch with me." He gestured for you to stand up as he turned around and headed towards the exit.
Turning your laptop off, you grabbed your pager, phone, and wallet. Compared to you, Tsukauchi was rather tall so his strides meant you running down the hall just to catch up. Upon meeting up with him, he mentioned the name of a cafe and the walking commenced.
The walk wasn't too long. Looking back, this had been the cafe where he had assigned to you the Fukuo Kai case. Choosing a more private booth, a waiter promptly took down your orders and left.
"Regarding the case," Tsukauchi started. "Overhaul sent a message saying that their boss is in town and that operations would more or less be moved up. The time table we prepared gave us a month but at this rate, we'll have to ask for your cooperation on this as well."
"Again?" You rubbed your face and grunted. "Nao. You don't think this is some kind of trap, right?"
"I'd like to believe it's not." He rested his elbows on the table and lowered his head. "I don't get it too. Their boss seems to be in a rush."
"Who isn't in a rush these days..." Reaching for a piece of tissue, you began to fiddle with its edges. "What exactly did the birdman say?"
"His message stated that the Fukuo Kai managed to capture the Asaki-Gumi."
"Asaki-Gumi." They weren't that big in terms of numbers but they held their ground when needed. "As far as I know, dad said that the clan has around 140 members. But aren't they far from here? Their base is in Osaka."
"While that's true, we should also note that Asaki-Gumi have members with rather dangerous quirks. If we were to push the raid in less than a month, our side would be badly outnumbered. Overhaul may be lending half a hand but having to rely on his quirk isn't the best."
"My schedule isn't that tight for now." Taking your phone out, you checked your schedule. "Nighteye's been syncing the Shie Hassaikai raid with the Fukuo Kai case. Once this shit is over, the heroes will finally make a move."
"Do you think we can go undercover 5 days from now?" Nao looked around the cafe and deemed it was still safe for the topic to continue. "Another get together will be happening and it would be too risky to let him wear another earpiece."
