(disclaimer: I changed their age, Perrie is 23 and Jade 22. If I ever mentioned something about age and time in this book, just change it up in your head haha)

She has a date... with someone else. She's young, she can go out with whoever she wants to, but something about it bothered me, I just can't pinpoint what.
"Perrie hurry up I'm going to starve," Jade yelled from the other room. This girl has been eating so much since I took her in, probably because she can afford it now. I'm actually quite happy about that. Happy. A feeling that I don't experience often. Happiness is like Christmas or Easter to me, it only comes once a year. I mean I do feel good about stuff the rest of the year, but sometimes I get to feel real happiness blooming in my heart, rushing through my veins. Enough happy talk Perrie, that girl is waiting for you.
"I'm on my way," I yelled back. I ordered some Chinese food and was just transferring all the food on plates. Balancing as many plates as I could on my arms, I walked to the dining area and placed them in front of her.
"There you go, made with love of course," I chuckled. Happily, Jade clapped her hands and then started to laugh at my comment.
"You didn't even cook it yourself you dork," She giggled, grabbing chopsticks so she could start to eat. She knew how to eat with chopsticks, interesting.
"How did you learn eating with those evil sticks, I can't even hold them properly," I said, sitting down across from her. She chuckled while swallowing a chunk of rice.
"Well with 15 I was kinda picked out by a nice Korean family who desperately wanted a teenager. They taught me how to eat with chopsticks and a few table manners of course," She answered, a faint smile on her face. That is, pretty cool to be honest.
"Very nice of them, but why didn't they end up adopting you?" I asked, using my fork to pick up some of the food.
"For some reason, they had to move back to Korea after I turned 16. I lived with them for nearly 8 months and I thought this was it, they treated me so well and really did love me, they talked about adopting me all the time. I wasn't allowed to move away so they left and I... got back into a foster care." She told me sadly. She looked up, smiling at me, reassuring me that it is okay.
"I want to know a bit more about your past. We got into it once when we got stuck here but, I want to hear some detailed story." I said. She laughed before she began to tell me all about it. The foster care she was in was a Christian facility. She was in exactly 11 families during her time in foster care. A lot of her friends got adopted and so she lost contact with them. Jade was so open about it, telling me the good and bad times.
"... so we just let the water running, until the sink overflowed. When that one mean nun caught us, he blamed it all on himself and protected me. He really was a troubled guy, but he worked hard after he turned 18 and got himself a good life." I laughed out loud, the funny story cracked me up. We were now sitting on the couch, the TV just being background noise. I was listening attentively.
"Sounds like he was a real one," I chuckled. He sounded like a great friend.
"He was... also a very respectful guy. Now Miss Edwards..." Why does she have to say it so seductively? "... tell me a bit about your troubled life. I also know a tiny bit but, details please." Jade smiled. Right, where do I start?
"Alright, sooo you know my dad hated me but my mom didn't." I began. She gave me a nod.
"Yes I do but, why did your dad hate you so much?" The brown-haired girl asked.
"Good question, simple answer. My mom was pregnant with me... and a little boy, my brother to be exact. We were twins. His name was Zack. My dad always wanted a son, a strong good looking son who could take over his company. They were blessed with a son and a daughter, which my dad didn't care about. One day, when we were four, my aunt took us to the local lake. It was truly a beautiful day. Zack and I were floating on something similar to an air mattress. We were tied to the shore. As it got really windy, the rope snapped and the thing we were on flipped over. We both swallowed a lot of water... he just, a bit more. My dad was furious and mad, he asked himself why I survived but my brother didn't. He hated me for it. I was a kid Jade, I didn't know what was going on or what to do, I was dying as well. My mom never hated or blamed me, she loved me. She just was never allowed to show me how much tho. I felt relieved when my dad died but pain when my mother did." I explained. I wouldn't say I blame myself for the death of my brother, but the following years just made me wish that it never happened.
"Perrie... I'm so so sorry, I had no idea. I bet your brother and your mom are proud of the person you've become. And your shitty dad can rot in hell." She laughed. I never really fully told anyone. Jesy knew yes but, someone who hasn't known me for my whole life. I told her a few more stories about my childhood and life.
"And that's pretty much it, shitty childhood, shitty life." I chuckled, sipping on a beer.
"Oh come on, your life is great at the moment isn't it?" You make it bearable, I thought.
"It's fine, I guess." I chuckled, teasing her with it.
"Fine, I guess? Fuck you." She said, throwing a pillow at me. I laughed, catching it before throwing it back, hitting her so hard that she fell from the couch. My mouth shaped an O. Damn, my pillow hitting skills are fire. I quickly sprung up, helping her to get back on her feet. She just couldn't contain her laughter anymore.
"I'm literally going to pee myself. Who would've guessed that you're a champion at throwing pillows." Tears formed in her eyes from all the laughing. Her laugh was so contagious.
"Not me. Hey, you wanna look over the city a little? The stars are incredible at night." I suggested. With a yes from her, we made our way outside, sitting on some of the furniture I have there. Shortly after I saw her shiver, so without a question I took of my jacket and gave it to her.
"Thank you, Pez. The night sky truly does look incredible." She said, looking up. But I couldn't keep my eyes from her.
"Usually I'm out here alone with my thoughts. I love the company today." I said, still gazing at her. She turned her head, lowkey catching me staring at her.
"You do?" She asked quietly, her eyes swiftly moving down to my lips, then up to my eyes. I did the same.
"I really do." This would the perfect moment, just a few inches more Perrie, come on, lean in. This is going to be it, this is-
