14. Dragon Races!

A/N: Another one from 2018!!! This is actually part one to a oneshot in my What If book. Sorry if they're a bit out of character.

It was a couple days after the ninja saved New Ninjago City from evil Garmadon. The ninja were out ridding their dragons high above the clouds and away from all the fans.

"Hey guys!" Shouts Cole, "Wanna race?"

"Oh, you're on!" Kai replied back, along with the other four.

"Hey Nya, if I win, can I take you on a date later?" Jay asked in a boastful tone.

"Jay, you're never gonna win," Lloyd said to him rolling his eyes.

"Statistically speaking," Zane started, "we all have an equal chance at winning this race." Everyone rolled their eyes.

"Would you guys let me talk?" Nya rhetorically asked. "And Jay," Nya said, turning her attention to him, "you don't stand a chance." She smirked.

Jay's mouth dropped open. "I'll show them," he muttered. The ninja lined up their dragons and waited for Cole to start the race.

"Okay! We race to the Monastery. On your mark... get set...." Cole dramatically paused for a few seconds. The ninja looked straight ahead, each determined to win. "Gooooo!!!" Cole shouted and the six took off in all diffrent directions. Kai and Cole's dragons shot downward towards the earth. Lloyd went off to the left and Zane went off to the right. Nya's dragon went straight ahead and Jay's dragon decided to go far above the clouds.

"I hope you know what you're doing!" Jay shouted at his dragon. It roared in response as it flapped straight ahead. Meanwhile, below Jay, Nya, Lloyd and Zane found each other.

"Well well well, look who we have here," Nya smirked, flying ahead of them.

Lloyd looked at Zane. "We gotta get her," he said.

"Agreed." Zane quickly made an ice wall in front of Nya. Her dragon shatered it with a strong burst of water. Lloyd shot a burst of green energy at her, but missed.

"Aw, come on!" Lloyd complained.

Nya briefly looked back and shot water at the both of them, slowing them down. "Ha!" She shouted. "Now if you don't mind, I have a race to win," she told them disappearing below the clouds.

The boys looked at each other confused. After the wave of confusion was over, they looked at each other and said, "You're on."

Flying below the clouds were Kai and Cole battling it out. "So fire boy, you ready to loose?" Cole taunted.

"Never," Kai said, the competitiveness leaking out in his voice. Cole's dragon built up a massive wall of rock. "Whaa..." Kai, confused, questioned before his dragon flew upward to avoid the wall. Cole was now ahead of him. "Is that all you've got Cole?" Kai asked, his dragon shooting fire balls at Cole as the two asended to the Monastery, bringing two more dragons in sight.

"Well, I haven't seen anyone yet!" Jay said aloud. "But shouldn't the Monastery be coming up soon?" Jay asked his dragon, who in response huffed. To be honest, Jay left up the decisions of where to go to his dragon because the dragon was a better racer (not to mention decision maker) than him. Then he saw a blast of water shoot up at him.

"Hey!" Jay shouted. "Not nice Nya!" He shouted below him. She stuck her tounge out at him in response and went faster. Then, Jay's dragon stopped and hovered looking down. "Um, what's-" Jay got cut off as his dragon tucked it's wings by its sides and shot downward. "AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!" Jay screamed and kept screaming as his dragon sped toward the finish line.
