The classes come and go.
At noon, I walk to the large cafateria.
The food looks like pig slop. Disgusing.
I spot some of my teammates a few tables from where I am standing, and I walk over to join them.
"Bro, have you seen this food?! What is it?" Brandon asks.
"Don't know. And I could truly care less." I snap at him.
Ever since I left Bailey in the gym, my attitude has spiraled downward.
I have to find out where she is. I have to see her one more time today.
"Dude, what's your problem?" Austin, Brandon's brother, asks me.
"Nothing. MInd your own business, and get a life."
I stand from the table, and walk out of the cafateria beofre I say any more hurtful words.
The cold wind swirls around me, and giggles come from the opposite sidewalk.
My heart stops.
That was Bailey's laugh.
I turn around quickly, to see her walking in the doors with RaeAnne, one of the softball players.
Bailey doesn't see me, and so I jog to catch up to her.
"Bailey! Wait up!" I yell.
RaeAnne turns around first, and pokes her arm.
Bailey's eyes meet mine.
"Oh, hey Brooks." She says quietly.
Why is she so quiet?
"Hi! How is your first day going?" I ask her.
"Good."
"Well, that is great. But, let me warn you, that the cafateria food will ruin your day. I am pretty sure they went to a farm and bought some pig food from the farmer."
Bailey laughs. Loud.
"Oh! Thanks for warning me." Her cheeks don't heat this time.
"Are you RaeAnne? Number 2 on the softball team?" I ask, guessing that this is one of Bailey's friends.
"Yeah, I'm Bailey's best friend."
I knew it.
"Nice to finally meet you. You are a great softbll player, they are lucky to have you on their team."
"Thanks!"
"Well, I am going to go meet Austin." RaeAnne says to Bailey.
I jump around in my head. Finally, I can talk to her by myself.
"Bye Rae." She says.
I wave bye to Bailey's friend, and wait for her to walk through the cafateria doors.
"So, may I take you out for lunch? We have a Pizza Hut, Mazzios, Chic-Fil-A, whatever you want!"
I see her cringe.
"Oh, um.... No. I already have a boyfriend, Brooks...."
My heart begins to pound ten times harder.
"Who?" I say, my voice barely audible.
"The quarterback for Arkansas, you have to know him. Brandon?"
I am shoving past Bailey immeaditly, and stroring into the cafateria, on a prowl hunt for my so called best friend.
