“A Heart's Demise"
by SoulOfVerse

—;Break her
into million pieces,
like petals scattered
in a savage garden,
like fragments of glass disperse
in aisle—she walked with bare feet
just to be with you.

Destroy her
like you destroy the promises
you once made;
along with the stars,
and just like how the stars explode.

Wreck her
until she ask her self
why love exist,
Until she'll stop loving the things
you both once loved.

Until she'll only see the stars
as a gaseous celestial body,
the moon as a satellite,
the fireflies as insects,
the mountains as dystopia,
and the sea — as a place
where you get sunburn.

Until she'll stop counting meteors,
and stops wishing for a dream come true,
stops hoping for delusions.

Until songs
no longer sound like lullabies.
and poetries are written
as epitaphs—of heart's demise.

She'll no longer look at them
with spark on her eyes,
but of throes and ire.

And until one day;

She'll be tired of hating them.
One day, she'll be able to love them again.
To fall again when everything is in place.
To love again but now with someone else.

Until she'll realized—why first loves never last;
Or why other loves end too fast,
Or why it takes a lot of lesson,
Just to finally be with the right person.

Until she'll understand
Why your love has to end.
Along with the forlorn sunset
And the dying flowers on the grave
Nothing left—

but erstwhile embers.
