“Our Last Song”
A villanelle poetry

Rest in my arms, where you once belong
Just for tonight, underneath the same starry night
Close your eyes, as we sing our last song

The starry firmament is a real beaut, yet it won't last long
Before the sun ends the night, let's pretend everything's right
Rest in my arms, where you once belong.

In a fire heated place where embers throng
Let me strum the guitar as both hearts ignite
Close your eyes, as we sing our last song.

Let's cherish this moment for it won't last long
As these forlorn tears becloud our sight
Rest in my arms, where you once belong.

T'was my fault and it's you I've wronged,
And holding on will no longer make it right.
Yet, close your eyes, as we sing our last song.

As the sun replaces the moon, our love will die along.
For the last time let me kiss you and hug you tight
Rest in my arms where you once belong
Close your eyes, as we sing our last song
