Chapter 5

*Mckala's POV*

I get home from Blake's and my parents are once again fighting. I run up to my room and shut my door, trying to drown out the yelling. It doesn't work

"Veronica I have had enough of your constant bitchiness, you do not control me I am my own person and I have my own ways."

"When we got married Kevin we became the same person, we are committed to each other."

"I am committed to you, but I have to be my own person. I am not going to give up everything I have worked so hard for, just so you can take this promotion!"

"Whatever Kevin!"

"Damn it Veronica I'm done!"

I hear the door slam and my dads truck start up. I know he left and possibly wasn't coming back until mom left for good. She comes up to my room.

"Mckala pack your things."

"Why mom?"

"I'm taking you somewhere until your father comes back and I'm leaving you and him behind!"

"Ohhh so you can go start a life with your new secret doctor boyfriend?"

"Mckala Rain I am not cheating on your father."

"Not what your texts say."

I packed my things, and I overheard my mom talking to someone on the phone.

"Hello Mrs. Rose, I hate to ask you this I really do but is there anyway possible you could take Mckala in. Her father left and I'm leaving them both. I never want to see their faces again."

"Yes Veronica I will be glad to take her under my wing until Kevin comes back."

I am silent the whole car ride, how could my own mother never want to see me again? Does she really hate me that much? I know this new secret boyfriend lives in Virginia. That is were she's going I bet you. She is just big of a coward to tell my dad she is cheating in person, so she's just going to leave him! We pull into their driveway. I get all of my things, and go into the house. My mom leaves, and I'm glad ill never see her again.

"Okay so your room, will be next to Blake's I hope that won't be a problem."

"No thank you for letting me stay here."

"Sweetheart don't mention it."

"Mrs. Rose do you know how Blake is doing? I was just wondering we are really good friends."

"He is doing a lot better he is actually coming back today."

"Wow that was quick."

"Yes it was, what can I say he is one tough kid."

"Yes he is."

How is hiding us from everybody going to work now that we are living in the same house? We will figure it out hopefully. I love things are going with us, I love not hiding us when I'm at his moms house. I'm still terrified to touch him, because he is still in pain. I hear a car pull into the driveway. I can feel my cheeks turn red and my body start to shake. He walks in and yells

"Nana I'm home!"

Then it's silent for a little bit I hear his voice at my door.

"Remind me never to do that again until I'm better."

"Ill try."

"Alright ill talk to you later."

I can feel the tears well up in my eyes but I push them back I can't cry in front of Blake, crying shows weakness. I walk out
