If I tried Harder

"Beep Beep Beep" is the sound of my alarm clock. I look around and then unplug it. I get up and put on and long sleeve brown kitty shirt and black jeans. I put my hair in two pigtails and put on my brown ankle boots. I grab my bag and head downstairs. I look around and no one is there. I open the front door and walk out. I slowly close it then make a run for it.

Its dark and warm. I don't have a flashlight so I have to feel my surrounding. I hear leaves crunching behind me. My hearts starts to race and I start running. I stop when I get to an open field. I can't really make out what there is, but I have no time. The sound gets louder and closer. I run across the field and farther into the woods. I hear speeding cars and fire trucks. I run out of breath pretty soon and pause. The steps get quicker. I hear my name being called and I snap. Its dark, I'm scared, and its getting cold. I run the opposite way I have been running for half and hour. I see a face, Jasper. I run as fast and can towards him.

"Bella!" He catches me in his arms and I hug him as tight as I can. Tears stream down my face and I bury my face in his neck.

"Shh...its okay. Your safe now. Its only me that's knows this. You're going to go home, and put back on your pajamas and go to bed."

"O...Kay." I am trying to speak through sniffles and tears, bit its not working so much. Jasper runs home and sets me in my bed. He leaves and I'm left there alone. I put on my pajamas and and get back in bed. I close my eyes and fall asleep.

Esme POV

"Jasper, she's been in bed all day. She needs to eat."

"Esme, just leave her alone. She had a rough night." Jasper argues.

"Okay Jasper. I'll take your word but if she ends up cranky when the guest gets here, she may ruin the trip for her."

"Tanya doesn't even know her. What will Bella do to her?"

"Look, I'm just panicking right now. She's been through a lot and she hasn't left her room to eat or anything. I don't even think she went to the bathroom."

"Let her...adjust to this place. What we said last night and what she's been through, I would even stay in my room if I were her."

"Okay Jasper, I'm trusting you."

Bella POV

Sitting in my room staring at a wall. I don't even want to eat. I heard Jasper and Esme talking outside my door. About a guest. I can't harm anyone. Besides, if I can't stick to a plan about running away. What harm am I to the world?

Before I know it, I'm off my bed about to turn the doorknob and leave. I slowly open the door. I step out and quietly walk downstairs. Everyone is in kitchen. I go sit in the living room. Everything goes quiet and I hear creeky footsteps towards me.

"Bella...? You're out of your room."

"Yeah...surprise surprise." I took a deep breath and then sighed.

"Bella, mind telling them?" Jasper asked.

"I'm good. I'm bout to go up to my room again anyways. Also-" I was cut off by the doorbell. I quickly run upstairs and close my door. I look out the window just in time to see a black Mercedes Benz in the driveway.

I give a quick sigh and leave my room to go back downstairs. I go into the living room. Everyone has there eyes on me, but I have my eyes on Tanya.

"Hi."

"Hello." I say shyly while blushing. I sit down beside Tanya. She gives me a friendly smile, but some things off. I don't care.

"Bella its late. You should sleep. Let's go put you in bed." Edward says trying to get me away from Tanya.

"Edward I just woke up. Like, ten minutes ago. I'm not going to bed. Not tonight."

I get up and walk to my room. I get a white T-shirt and some black leather jeans. I grab the matching leather jacket and put my hair into a messy bun. I put on my ankle boots and go back downstairs.

I head out of the front door. I walk to the backyard with my hands in my pockets. You remember the field I ran into, in the morning? Well, that's where I'm heading. I find the field and its beautiful. I found my happy place.

It has butterflies everywhere and flowers. Purple flowers, everywhere. I run into the field and dance. Then I plop down on my back and try to guess the clouds. Its so peaceful. When you don't have to be surrounded by people.

"Can I come and sit down?"

I look up and see Tanya with a little smile on her face.

"Sure."

She lays down next to me. I hold her hand.

"Tanya...?"

"Yes Bella?"

"Will you protect me?"

"Of course, Bella. Your my new family. I'll treat you like a little sister."

"Thanks."
