The chief seemed pensive. "What do you have to say?" He wanted to hear my part too.
"Umm... it's almost the same" I muttered.
"But we would like to hear it." CRUCIO! I didn't expect this. I had no other option. So I told everything. I felt like two guilty kids standing in front of the principal.
"Either you are telling the truth or you are fabricating a wonderful story. It makes no sense to me." He sure was reasonable.
"I would take this to the hands of our King" I was relieved that he didn't torture us as they did in ancient times. But wait! Did he say we are going to meet the K.I.N.G? I flinched at the very thought. May be I had watched too much legends about ancient Kings. It occurred to me that I should be watching my favorite TV show by then. The wind of the palace. It was about an Emperor who reigned the ancient Korea. At least it was Korea. But think about it. There were so many mean plots to dismiss the king, dominant ministers & the king had many queens. I always thought it would be marvelous to live in such a time. But not anymore. I was determined not to think about that story again.
I should admit that the walking to the palace was way better than I imagined. The pathway was bounded by rocks. Fire torches lighted the pathway. The air was fragrant with the aroma of some incense. If not for the chirping of the birds & the rustling of leaves it could be utterly silent. I found myself absorbed to that silence. A thought struck me that this is where I belonged. But I neglected that thought straightaway.
Next moment we were standing in front of the palace. It's majesty and the grandeur made me feel small & insignificant. I didn't guess the palace to be this much splendid. I lived in a time where architecture was a total success. The sight of the palace was a hard blow to my pride. Since I was from a technologically advanced time I thought that I was superior than them. But this proved that I was wrong.
The chief accompanied us through porches, corridors, hallways and then in to a beautifully decorated hall. I understood it to be the King's gallery. At the far end the King was seated on a gem studded golden throne. Beside the pathway sat ministers, I guessed. Once or twice I wanted to rub my eyes and see whether I was dreaming. I got embarrassed by all the attention. It was like standing in a spotlight.
When we came near the King, I noticed that he had all the qualities that a king should have. He had a well built manly figure and a regal look. To me he was a king indeed. To my amazement I wasn't scared of him as I was of the chief. Well, I wasn't scared at all. I noticed that underneath his solemn exterior he was a gentle person. Next to the king seated the queen. She was strikingly beautiful. I gaped at her like a weirdo. She had such delicate features that I couldn't take my eyes away. It was like all the feminine qualities had concentrated to her. I saw her perfect lips curling. Probably she noticed my admiration. So unwillingly I took my gaze away from her.
"Chief??" The king expected his explanation. His voice was like a roar of a lion. Incredibly deep and loud.
