Chapter 6- Am I Curious

"Hello?? Get up bae It's 7 o'clock" I heard Diamond say on the phone. I almost forgot she was on there. But I dreamed about her. This is definitely not me. "I'm uppp" I uttered. But I didn't get actually get up until Lonnie came knocking, asking to come in. "I meant to tell you I have a dentist appointment today so you can drive to school by yourself today and I'll take the other car or I'll drop you off, up to you but either way get up" he insisted. "I'll drive myself" I said while getting up. He left out. "Come get me then I don't feel like driving" Diamond whined. "Okay send your location I'll call when I'm outside." I hung up. As I was getting ready I felt so good and happy. I don't know why. But I'm not complaining. As I was leaving out the house, my dad was making his famous breakfast burritos so I grabbed one & kissed him on the cheek "thanks dad" I said with a mouth full. When I got in the car I put Diamond's location in my  GPS, she lived 7 minutes away. When I pulled up she was already outside letting her puppy do business. She let it back in the house then got in the car. "Ready for tryouts?" She questioned. In my head I'm kind of nervous but I said "of course". As we were pulling into the school parking lot, she told me to park in the senior section which was kind of farther from the building. Not sure why. But when I parked, she asked how did I feel about her for some odd reason. If I tell her the truth I don't know what'll happen. Omg. Do I lie ? I don't know, help! She stared deep into my eyes waiting for my response. "I- I think you're coo af and-" she cut me off. "Psh save it" she said while rolling her eyes and getting out of the car. She slammed the door. Uh oh she's upset. Wtf do I do. I think I do like her. I just don't want to tell her. I never felt like this about a girl before. She walked ahead of me so when I got inside the school I lost sight of her. Until fourth period came, I had butterflies in my stomach on my way there. I hope she's not still mad at me is all I could think. When I got into the classroom she had her AirPods in, scrolling on her phone, with a not so happy face. Do I sit by her and say something ? Or keep my distance ? I'll keep my distance. When the bell rung, she was almost the first to leave out. I swallowed my pride, texted her phone, and asked is she sitting with me for lunch. She left me on read. So I didn't go to lunch. I went to the library instead. While I was looking for a book on the shelf, hands covered my eyes from the back. Although I was hoping it would be her, it was Jalen. "Goodmorning Alaylah why are you skipping lunch?" He asked. "I'm not hungry, I'll rather read a book" I replied. He followed me to the table. As I sat down he asked another question. "Why you haven't been texting me back lame ?" I'm really not in the mood so I ignored him by putting my face in the book. The bell rung. I have next period with him. Ugh. When I got in there, I didn't sit next to him like yesterday. So he texted me. The message read "Are you okay ? Is there a reason you're not sitting by me? Did I do anything? Why won't you talk to me bro🥺" I just read it and continued to do my assignment for the day.
