Hey, here is the first chapter of my story. The first chapter is them on the plane for the first time in America.
P.S. The family speaks Italian together and they don't speak that much English. I would write this in Italian but then most of you won't understand so I'll write this in English with some Italian phrases but just pretend they speak Italian the whole time.
Edit: I just realized that people might not know how you pronounce the name Jacopo here in Italy. It's pronounced (ya-co-po) Thanks.
Olivia's POV:
We're in the airport now. All my siblings are being so moody about leaving Rome. I mean, they have a point, Rome is our home, where all our friends are, where our house was, where our grandparents and all our cousins live, so it's a little frustrating that we have to leave all of them just because our mamma (mom) is unstable.
But, I'm excited to go to America. Who wouldn't be. It's AMERICA. The land of opportunities, where dreams come true. I can't wait to go to an actual high school with prom and homecoming. Yes, I did my reasearch.
I would love to try out for the cheerleading team. Back in Italy, I loved to do gymnastics but there is no such thing as cheerleading.
I'm sure Leo would love to try out for the football team. Or soccer, which is how the Americans call it.
I also know Camilla will find a bunch of friends and join the popular group almost instantly. Dani will just pour himself into his studies like he alway does.
Everything will go back to normal. Just like it was before. Before it happened.
I'm a little worried about Talia and Jacopo though. They don't adapt really well and they don't like following the rules.
Out of all of us, they are also the ones who weren't botherd to take English lessons, so their English is not up to standard. They are also the ones who were hit the hardest with what happened. They were there when he did it.
I see Jacopo trailing behind the 'pack' as we walk to our boarding gate. He's dragging his luggage and listening to music on his headphones.
I slow down my pace and start walking beside him. Jacopo was always one of my favourite siblings. Maybe it was because he was the only sibling that was younger than me and it felt good not be 'babied' by my older siblings for once. Maybe it was because we are complete opposites but we still like some of the same things. Like our taste in music for example. He's the daredevil who helps me step outside my comfort zone and I'm the rational one who tells him not to do anything reckless.
All in all, I always felt protective towards Jacopo. Hey, little siblings have to stick together, don't they?
"Hey," I say. Removing one of his earbuds, "watcha listening to?" I ask.
He doesn't answer, instead he just puts the earbud in my ear so I can listen to his music as well.
It was Lose Yourself from Eminem. It was our favourite song. Eminem is also how Jacopo learnt English since he refused to take English lessons back in Italy. The downside is that he only knows swear words.
A/N: It's funny because if you see me you would not expect me to like Eminem but he's my favourite artist and his music is the best. I listen to it all the time. I even learnt all the raps. So, I made Olivia and Jacopo like Eminem too because why not.
After a while of walking together and whispering/humming some of the lyrics as to not draw attention to ourselves, we couldn't take it anymore so we started belting out the chorus not caring if everyone in the airport was staring at us.
"You better lose yourself in the music, the moment
You own it, you better never let it go
You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow
This opportunity comes once in a lifetime"We sing over and over again.
I turn around a see Jacopo smiling and having fun. I'm glad I made him feel a little better. He's been acting really sad and depressed lately. As if everything that he used to be excited about didn't really stir up any emotions. But now, I can see him happy. I'm so overwhelmed with happiness in seeing my little brother find enjoyment in things again that I hug him out of nowhere.
At first he is a bit surprised and stiffens. But then he relaxes and hugs me back. As we pull away we realise the rest of our family is already boarding the plane.
Together we run to catch up.
On the plane. I put my seatbelt on and look outside the window. Cami and I fighting for the window seat as usual, but it's my turn this time. She'll have the seat next time we go on a plane.
I watch Rome disappear from view as we take off. Let's get ready for our 13 hour flight to Los Angeles.
And that's the end of the first chapter, thank you for reading.
I will skip the whole plane journey because it's a little boring and the next chapter will be them ariving to LA
Note: I have never stepped foot in America so I don't know anything about the states and stuff. I looked up how long it takes to fly to LA but I don't even know where in America it is. I hate geography so I think LA is like in the west or something please correct me if I'm wrong I literally don't know anything.
Also, I don't know how school in America works but I did learn a bit by watching movies and American TV shows so I'm not completely hopeless.
Lastly, what do you think happened to the Casartelli family? Why are they leaving? What does Olivia mean by 'Before it happened'. It's kind of obvious but I wanted to add some mystery to the book don't judge me.
Pleaseee comment. It would make my day to see someone comment on this book.
Ok I'm done talking or writing should I say. Bye!
