Hi there! So this is chapter 2, and I finally developed a plot! *woah* I can't believe that this actually happened, but it seems like a good idea. Here we go! (I'm switching to third person.)

Chapter 2.

Previously:

I felt my arms sting, blood seeping out and pooling on the ground, and as I collapsed, I heard the words shouted in my ear.

"WAKE UP!"

Now:

Third Person POV

Jacklyn shot up, eyes flying open. In front of her was the yellow haired demigod, standing next the demigod with blew eyes. No, not blew. Blue. What a strange color. The male demigod was glaring at the yellow-haired one, who was frowning. The female demigod turned to the black-haired demigod, whom she hadn't noticed. He was staring into Jacklyn's eyes, and she immediately closed her mind. Lynn's face molded into a mask of indifference. No feeling, nothing to betray emotion. Even her eyes were guarded. The boy stepped back, staring in wonder at her perfect warrior's face. He nudged the yellow haired demigod.

"Look, Annabeth. She's completely guarded." the girl, whose name was Annabeth, she supposed, glanced at her and nodded curtly. Jacklyn fought to make eye contact with the girl, to show her emotion. She felt as if she could trust Annabeth. Annabeth connected her eyes to Lynn's, and gasped and stepped back. The boy whirled around, concern clouding his features.

"Annabeth, are you okay? Do you need anything? Is there any-" Annabeth covered his mouth with her hand.

"H-her eyes..." She started. "They're... broken. Percy, they're broken. She's broken. She's not supposed to be broken." Jacklyn noticed that their eyes had a fractured light as well. Judging by the way they stood, like they were expecting a fight, and glanced warily at their friends, as if they were going to attack, they were broken too.

"You're broken," Lynn croaked. Her voice was rough and cracked, like dry, brittle old parchment. Percy glanced at di Angelo. He nodded.

Will laughed uncertainly. "You're not broken. You're the most sane people in camp."

Annabeth choked out a brittle laugh. "Correction: we were. Not we are."

"But how?"

Annabeth grimanced*, and simply said, "No leaves Tartarus fully sane." She stopped talking. Percy spoke up.

"You're right. Nico, Annabeth and I are broken. But we're older. When did you fall in?" Jacklyn glared at Nico. A wave of unnecessary anger washed through her.

"I didn't fall in." Annabeth gaped.

"So you went in voluntarily?"

"No. I've always lived in Tartarus. I live with my mother. I was fine. But di Angelo just HAD to come along and rescue me. I didn't need rescuing. I was fine living with my mother."

Nico laughed humorlessly. "Because I did NOT see you almost get ripped to shreds by-" Lynn sent him a death glare, daring him to name her. Inviting him. Inviting him to a slow deah. Nico swallowed. "By your mother." Will stared at her.

"H-how did you survive?"

"I wasn't weak. I didn't scream. I didn't make noise. If I did, I was punished. So I stopped. Now I never scream. Only when it really hurts." Percy had gone pale, remembering horrible nights with Gabe Ugliano. "Because if I don't scream, she'll let me go faster. And then I have longer to heal, long enough so hopefully I'll be better in time for out next... conference."

Jacklyn's voice had cleared, taking on a deadly edge. It wasn't louder, it wasn't quieter. It was the voice that made even Nico want to spill all his worldly secrets. It was the voice of an executioner, a torturer. It was the voice that she heard every day. It was the voice Jacklyn had been struggling to perfect. And it was the voice that confirmed her insanity.

And she loved it.
