I groaned as I held on to my stomach. There has been this stabbing pain at the lower right side of it but I cannot tell my boyfriend Kai about it. You see , my boyfriend is the head surgeon in a local hospital. Not to mention that I have a huge fear of doctors and hospitals , that's why I cannot tell him about the pain that I am having or else he will go all doctor mode on me.
"Y/n come down, it's time for dinner." I heard my brother shout from the kitchen. I put on the brave face so he would not suspect that there's anything wrong with me. The pain gradually got worse and worse. I ate as per usual despite having the stabbing pain in me. The moment I finished eating, I started feeling nauseated. Immediately, I ran to the bathroom and started to vomit out everything I had for dinner. Then I felt someone holding up my hair and I knew that it is my brother.
"It's okay darling, just let it all out." Kai said as he gently rubbed my back. After I was done, he helped me clean up and carried me bridal style to his room. The pain in me intensified and I started feeling weak and cold. Then I knew I'm having a temperature.
"What's wrong baby? Your skin feels warm to the touch." That is when I know I cannot hide the pain any longer so I snuggled up to him and started crying.
"It hurts, please make it stop."
"What hurts darling? Can you point it out to me?" I pointed at my lower right abdomen region.
"Baby I'm going to have to check it alright?" I shook my head violently and gripped onto him as another pain episode started.
"I'll be quick, and as gentle as I can. I just need to check please darling?" I know I cannot say no anymore so I nodded my head. He gently laid me down onto his bed and rolled up my t-shirt. The moment he touched that region, I let out a huge cry in pain.
"I'm sorry darling, I know it hurts but we have to go to the hospital. If my diagnosis is right, your appendix is inflammed." Usually I would have put up a huge fight the moment I hear the word hospital but today , I just didnt have the energy. He picked me up and carried me to the car, not caring that I'm in my pajamas. The ride in the car was excruciating any humps or bumps intensified the pain. When we reached , he carried me out of the car and straight into the emergency room. It didn't take him long to find an empty room since he is the head surgeon. He gently placed me down onto the bed.
"Paging for Dr Park to ED room 5." A few moments after he made the announcement, another doctor came running in.
"She has appendicitis and it has to be removed stat. Book me an OR and get Dr Oh." After that, the doctor went out. There was a nurse in my room while all those things were happening, she quickly took my vitals.
"Dr Kai, she has a high temperature of 39 degree Celsius." He nodded in acknowledgment as he checked his phone. He sat down and carried me into his arms.
"Baby, I'm going to be honest with you alright? You need to have surgery to get your appendix removed." I shook in fear, gripped tightly onto his shirt and cried.
"I know you don't like being here, but it is the best for you. I hate seeing you in so much pain, I would trade places with you if I could. Please let us help you. The sooner you get it done, the sooner we get to go home and cuddle while watching movies."
I couldn't say no in anyway so i just nodded my head. He gently picked me up and went to another place. The next thing I knew , I was in the operating theatre. Kai sat on the bed with me in his lap, gently hugging me. One of the nurse there covered me with a blanket to keep me warm.
"Hi y/n I'm dr Oh." One of the doctor spoke as he shook my hand.
"Kai, I'll be starting a line now." Kai gently placed my head on his chest and stroked my cheek. I didn't know what was happening till I felt something cold rubbing on the back of my hand. I whimpered and wanted to pull my arm away but kai held it in place.
"Sharp scratch darling." I let out a whimper as I felt the needle going in.
"Its okay baby, you're doing good." I felt a gentle kiss on my forehead.
"y/n baby can you lift up your head for me?" I did as asked and Kai gently placed a mask over my nose and mouth. From the corner of my eye, I saw dr Oh approaching with a syringe in his hand. Worried that it is another shot, I pulled my arm away.
"Its okay y/n , its not a shot. It just goes into your IV plug." He said as he took my hand and slowly pressed the medication in. I started to feel tired but I did not want to close my eyes.
"Don't fight the medication baby, just close your eyes. I'll be right here when you wake up." Kai said as he gently kissed my forehead. I did as asked and closed my eyes. In a few moments, I was out.
"Y/n baby if you can start opening your eyes for me." I heard a muffled sound and felt something on my forehead. I managed to gather my strength and opened my eyes only to be greeted by Kai's gentle smile.
"Hi baby, how are you feeling?" I weakly nodded my head to show that I was feeling fine.
The rest of the stay in the hospital was just Kai staying by my side while the doctors checked in on me once in awhile to see how i was recovering. After a few more days, I got to go home.
