I would really love it if you commented your thoughts as you read this chapter. It was probably the most difficult one for me to write. It's a really long one too

Beth.

I was blindfolded, my feet stumbling upon each other as I tried to keep up with the fast pace Jenkins was dragging me. I felt the difference in temperature, escaping the dry heat of the night into the air conditioner that practically made this dwelling a freezer.

“I’m right behind you, Beth.” Luke reassured me. It was the only reassurance I had; he couldn’t hold my hands, he couldn’t hug me, or wrap his arms around me. I fúcking hate Jenkins.

“It’s freezing in here!” I whined, begging my feet to cooperate so that I would stop tripping. I could hear Jenkins getting even more annoyed, which both pleased and terrified me.

“Shut up.” he hissed back at me, his grip on my arm growing tighter. He slowed down his pace, a creaking sound being made before we were back to moving at a rapid stride.

“Holy-!” I let out a small scream as I instinctively grabbed onto Jenkins, the ground disappearing from below me for a moment.

“You could have told me there were goddamn steps.” I muttered, cautiously stepping my foot down feeling for the next stair.

“That would imply me caring for your safety.”

“You know it wasn’t so smart of you to break me out of jail. They’re going to come looking for me.” I told him, trying to develop a rhythm as we descended further down the stairs. My hands itched to grab for a side railing but they were knotted in rope, led by Jenkins.

“They’ll probably think you escaped.” We reached the bottom of the steps, an offbeat feeling occurring when my feet didn’t feel another sublevel to descend upon. Jenkins stopped walking and I felt him come closer to me, his hands reaching behind my head. Quickly my blindfold was yanked off from around my eyes, my eyelids blinking rapidly in reaction to the bright light as my blurred vision slowly began to become clear.

“Welcome to your end, Miss Laude.” Jenkins smiled, spreading his arms as he walked in front of me as if he were displaying some marvelous masterpiece.

My eyes scanned the room, instantly stopping upon two familiar faces.

“Michael? Ashton? What the hell are you both doing here?” I exclaimed, noticing that their backs were to each other as a bundle of rope tied their hands behind their back.

“Funny. I believe that’s what you said to us last time.” Ashton remarked, legs sliding against the floor as he tried to move him and Michael so he could face me.

“I guess this explains why you both never returned with Luke. The only hell raised was by me.”

“Is this reunion over? I don’t exactly want to hear you bunch of brats converse.” Jenkins groaned, seeming more like a kid than a full grown adult with a MD.

I subtly looked over at Luke, noticing him observe the room with a confused expression.

“This isn’t it. This isn’t the room I usually stay in. The walls are different. The lighting is darker.” He commented, walking around the room. He came to an archway cloaked with a plastic curtain, concealing what laid beyond. Hesitantly, he reached forward to move the curtain, but retracted his hand instantly.

“I can’t move it. They’ll notice.” He said, looking back at me with a scared expression. I knew that he had an idea of what laid beyond, not sure how ready he was to face it.
