Epilogue

(Written in 3rd person)

Luke was losing his mind, seeing him everywhere. He saw his bitter smile while walking past the coffee shop in the morning on his way to uni, he saw him standing in his kitchen, flashing him that sinister smile while he went to get a glass of water. He even saw him behind him in the reflection of the mirror when he washed his hands or brushed his teeth.

The only comfort Luke felt was knowing that he couldn't touch him. Unlike in Luke's situation with Beth, Dr. Jenkins couldn't physically touch Luke. Maybe its because he was really dead, or maybe he was too stubborn to learn anything about being dead other than being a phantom and haunting Luke. Regardless, Luke was at the end of his sanity stick.

"Leave me alone!" He yelled at his reflection, eyeing Dr. Jenkins as he stood behind him, casually leaning against the green colored wall.

"You know I very well can't do that. After all, you're the reason I'm still here."

Luke gripped his hair tightly, spinning around to face Jenkins. "It's been five years, Sam. Please, go rest in peace. Let us all rest in peace." he begged. He felt his sanity slowly slipping and he refused for Jenkins to be his downfall. Luke had so much going for him at the moment. He was on the dean's list in his university, he had his beautiful fiancée, a baby on the way, and a job lined up for him straight after graduation. He was not willing to let that all go to waste due to some man who couldn't let his grudge go, even in death.

"I can't!" Jenkins yelled, moving around to face Luke as he stood next to him by the sink. "You were my unfinished task. You are why I'm stuck in this purgatory!" Jenkins seethed, glaring at Luke. Luke shook his head, looking away from the man who once tried to kill him.

"Just go away. Please. Leave me alone." Luke begged once again, softly.

"Luke? Is everything alright?" Beth knocked, slowly opening the door to the bathroom as she stepped inside.

Luke lifted his head to gaze at her, not noticing that the whites of his eyes had started turning a shade of red as he held back tears.

"Hey, babe. Did you need something?" Luke asked her, turning around to place his toothbrush in its proper holder. Beth walked up to him, wrapping her arms around his waist as she pressed her hands against his hips, dipping below his pajama pants' waistband.

"I heard you." She whispered, leaning her head against his back between the shoulder blades.

Luke let out a deep breath, placing his hands over Beth's.

"How's junior?" He asked, turning around in her grasp as he held on to her waist with one hand, his other moving up to place on top of her growing baby bump.

"He's fine. Just worried about his daddy." She cooed, standing on the tips of her toes to kiss him. Luke met her halfway, smiling into the kiss.

"You should go to sleep, baby." Luke sighed, brushing a strand of her hair back behind her ear.

"Worried about the health of your son, Luke? At least you have one." Jenkins pushed, reminding Luke of his still luring presence.

"Shut up! Just shut up!" Luke yelled, clenching his eyes shut. He opened his eyes quickly in panic, looking down at Beth.

"Shít, not you, I wasn't, I mean-- "

"You're still seeing him, aren't you?" Beth sighed, unwrapping her arms from around Luke's waist.
