Rockwell's Betrayal

Crash

The silver spiked orb launches me through the wall. I slide off it and watch it continue on its path.

At least something's going my way today.

I get up and look back to see an empty trail of destruction. I walk down the hall and stop. I feel a tingle in the back of my head and jump to the left. Almost immediately, a bright red beam shoots where I was standing.

“ good job Spider-man, but this game isn't over. Now it's time to truly test you to see if your a worthy opponent. If you pass, you can face me. If you don't, well you'll see."

“ I won't fail Technomancer, if anything you're going to fail,and I'll be the one to win."

“ we'll see about that Spider-man, we will see about that."

I continue walking down the hall. I turn a corner to see a creature standing at the end of it. I run back behind the corner and turn my head around the corner to look at it. It's silver with red eyes and sharp teeth.

Did Technomancer make this thing?

It turns its head at me and growls. I walk out slowly and hold my right hand behind my back. It holds its ground and continues growling at me. I keep walking until I'm on the other side of it. I walk backwards until a sound comes through the P.A. system.

“ looks to see you've discovered my new creation, the Techno-Raptor. The strengths of a raptor mixed in with the power of technology. If you survive this, then you'll have a greater surprise than this waiting for you."

I don't even want to know what could be worse than this.

The Techno-Raptor leaps at me and I punch it aside. It regains its balance and leaps at me again. It dodges my punch and bites my arm. I yelp in pain and grab it by its tail. I pull it off and throw it into the wall. It growls and comes at me again. I summon a blade from my hand and stab it through the chest.

It yelps and I force my hand fully through it. It quiets down and I throw it at the wall. It smashes to pieces and I walk off. I hear a sound and turn to see a silver liquid on the floor. It begins to form back into a Techno-Raptor.

Of course.

I rush down the hall and turn into a room. I shut the door and hear it clawing outside. I look around to see the room is filled with crates marked: Psyrillium. I check to see the crates are empty.

With this much Psyrillium, the whole building could be made of it.

I exit the room to see the Techno-Raptor is gone. I continue down the hall when a tingle goes off in the back of my head. I look up to see a spike coming from the ceiling. I jump forward and it impales the floor.

This is getting ridiculous.

Another spike comes from the floor and I dodge to the left. I jump my way through the hall dodging spikes and reach the end. I walk down the hall until Technomancer comes back on the P.A. system.

“ Your doing well Spider-man, but how about your ally Rockwell? Where is he during all of this?"

That's actually a good question, where is Rockwe--

Boom

An explosion goes off underneath me and the power goes off. I feel around and find an elevator. I tear open the doors and jump in. I see light coming through the bottom level and shoot a web line to it. I crawl up it and open the doors.

I look inside to see Rockwell fighting Technomancer. He throws a silver orb at him and it explodes in his face. He flies back and crashes into a wall. “ What did you do?" He looks at me and lands on the ground. “ I've succeeded in shutting down the power, weakening him." 

Of course, no power, no technology to control.

A tingle goes off in the back of my head and I push Rockwell out of the way. A spike impales my left arm and I yelp in pain. I pull it out and throw it to the side. The symbiote heals my arm as I stick to the wall. Technomancer looks at me with his bright red eyes and smirks. “ Risking your own self being for Rockwell? How good friends you must be."

“ We are not friends. We both just know you have to be stopped."

Rockwell gets back up and throws an orb at Technomancer. He deflects it and it heads toward me. The explosion blows me through the wall and into another room.

Well, that hurt.

I get up to feel my chest bare and the symbiote trying to cover it again. I walk back toward the battle when I hear a ticking. I look toward it to see it coming from a panel. I walk to it to see a timer set off for about 30 minutes.

Rockwell set this place to explode?! Is he insane, how can we get out of here before it goes off?

I walk toward the exit when I begin to limp.

Guess I've taken more damage than I thought. I'll have to fly out of here.

Rockwell comes in and looks at me. “ What are you doing? We haven't taken down Technomancer yet." I stand up against the wall and wince from my limp leg. “ What am I doing? How about you? Why would you set this place to explode?!"

He smirks at me and steps back. “ I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone by blowing up this building, taking down you and Technomancer at the same time."

I should've known Rockwell would do this. I should've never trusted him.

I fall down on my knees and look Rockwell in the eyes. “ You won't get away with this!" He grabs me by the neck and stares me in the eyes. “ I already have." He throws me in the room and I land on my back. “ Go play with Technomancer." I hear his wings swoosh out the room.

How am I gonna get out of this one?

I get up and limp toward the exit when I hear a sound behind me. I turn to see Technomancer with his eyes dark red and exhausted. “ Let's end this Spider-man!"
