Chapter 4
Melanie's P.O.V
♛
Math! I hate math!
Well actually it depends on what we're going to do, but right now I fucking despite it! Always the same thing, we've been doing this for months now.
Currently we had geometry.
Class starts with Mr Smith explaining some things, and then you start working with the math book. Like seriously, is there nothing else we can do. And if we do something else than THAT book, it's "fun" games. You know games that make you wanna jump out of the window.
If only my seat was there, I thought.
Next to me sat Audrey, and behind us sat Amara and Rhee. These were my best friends, the only ones I trusted and showed a side of me that no one knew existed. Only them could I go to with my problems, only them could comfort me, only them could make me smile and laugh. And only them could make me feel beautiful and special.
But that didn't mean I told them everything, there were still parts of me no one had seen or knew about. It's sad but I was a master at hiding my emotions, only what I wanted people to see would they see. This mask I was putting up made me feel safe, without it I'd be vulnerable to everyone.
I couldn't be vulnerable, not in this world.I jumped on my chair when I felt something poke me out of nowhere. My friends started laughing while I glared at them. It was Rhee who had poked me with her pencil.
"You know I get startled when you poke me like that", I could hear some other classmates from the opposite of the classroom laughing.
"This is so embarrassing", I mumbled while hiding my head between my hands. Audrey just patted me on my head like I was a dog.
"Sorry, I tried calling your name but you wouldn't turn around", Rhee told me. Although I knew she wasn't really sorry - to her amusement -. I guess it was pretty hilarious, but mostly embarrassing.
"I hate you," we both knew I was joking. I could never hate them.
"Love you to bug." I gave her the best what-the-fuck look I could manage while she and Amara just laughed.
"Girls, stop talking and get back to work". After the old man scolded us I could hear Audrey sighing.
"What is it, Audrey?" I whispered to her, but having my eyes on the old man.
"I fucking despite math, it's so fucking hard and complicated. Like what the fuck! How the fuck am I suppose to solve this. It's fucking impossible! Fuck school, fuck the teachers and most of all fuck me!" she whispered yelled.
That's a lot of fucks.
"Calm down Audrey. I'll help you." I had now turned to her completely.
"Melanie and Audrey, are you disrespecting me now. I told you not to talk!" It looked like his eyes were about to pop out.
"I was just helping her with an equation," I answered back calmly. I never lied and was actually one of the "good" girls. Which meant listening and no causing problems.
"Okay, that's actually a good example class. Sometimes if the teacher is busy just ask the person beside you." He kept going on, but I just tuned him out and continued helping Audrey. Are you so busy that you won't even have time to zip your pants, I thought.
➼
After four long periods which consisted of Math, English, History and Chemistry, it was only lunch and gym left. Closing my locker I walked to Amara's.
"Where are the others?" I asked looking around in the sea of people.
"I think their class just ended, they had chemistry right?
"Yeah, we'll just wait for them here then."
➼
"I'm so hungry, like seriously I had to wait for 20 fucking minutes to get food!"
"Didn't you eat breakfast Audrey?" I asked her.
"No, woke up late cause' my stupid alarm didn't work. By the way, RIP alarm clock you won't be missed." We all started laughing at that.
While they kept talking I thought of our personalities. We were all very shy in class except Audrey, but as soon as it was just the four of us. Well, that's a whole other story.
One thing out of many that I loved about us was that we didn't have just one clown in our group, we all were dorks. Although it was safe to say that Audrey was the one who cursed the most. Amara you could say was the mom while Rhee was the dad, and me and Audrey were the children.
"Mel, aren't you going to eat", Amara asked while the others also looked at me.
"I'm not hungry, besides I have period cramps." That was a lie, my period actually ended three days ago. I hated lying to them but I couldn't tell the truth. If I did they would only feed me lies about my appearance and more.
"Ohh, do you need to visit the nurse," Rhee asked.
"I can come with you," added Amara.
"No, I only have one lesson left. The cramp isn't that bad." They nodded and we continued talking and joking around.
After lunch break ended, me and Audrey headed to the girls locker room. One lesson left then I can go home.
