Chapter 7
Melanie's P.O.V
♛
I woke up 20 minutes earlier just to take a warm shower, and let's just say I didn't regret that decision. Usually I showered a few hours before going to bed but some days like today, I decided to take a quick dip in the morning. The shower doors were steamy which showed how hot the water was. As it ran down my body I wished to stay like this forever, but if I didn't get ready soon I'd be late.
I settled down with an oversized black sweater where the front part was tucked into my black ripped jeans, and a pair of sneakers. I did a different hairstyle today where I put one half of my hair in a ponytail and the other half down. As usual I put on light makeup which consisted of mascara and lip gloss.
It took me about 20 minutes to get ready and there was still time left. I grabbed my purse and computer before heading downstairs ready to leave. I ignored my growling stomach on my way out, skipping breakfast was nothing difficult as I almost never ate it. I couldn't eat in the morning without feeling sick but with my ongoing diet I'm pretty sure my stomach wouldn't complain.
If it wasn't raining today in Seattle I would've walked to school, but my dad told me he'd drive me there.
"I'll also come pick you up, it will be raining the entire day", he told me while I was getting out of the car. I answered back with an 'Okay dad' before walking into school. It was more than 20 minutes left before the first bell rang and my friends would probably arrive 10 minutes before. Except Audrey, who very likely would have come running into the classroom last minute making up some stupid but entertaining excuse.
The first lesson I had was History since Biology had been canceled today.

And my speculation was right!
When Audrey came running into class, ten minutes late our history teacher was not so happy. Her excuse this time was running out of gas but there were two things she forgot. Firstly, Audrey didn't own a car and secondly, she was still fifteen and hadn't gotten her driving license. Me however, had already turned sixteen two months ago, since my birthday is on January 4th. Audrey's is on September 9th.
"Fuck", she muttered under her breath after I told her how the 'running out of gas' excuse wouldn't work because she forgot some "small" details.
"Can you go one day without swearing?" I asked with a sigh.
"If I do, will you give me money?"
"No." I answered her. Sorry but I'm broke.
"Then hell nah." I just giggled at her answer before bringing back my attention to the teacher.
"Many say that Adolf Hitler turned out the way he did because of his past. Some say he had a bad relationship with his parents, which was the reason why he carried so much anger and hatred. What are your thoughts on this? Whose fault is it that he turned out the way he did? " Mrs Ambrose asked. Some hands came up but the teacher continued looking around before stopping her gaze on me.
"Melanie, what do you think?"
Why?! Why me?
Everyone's going to look at me. I could feel my anxiety starting to build up and blood rushing to my face. I shook my head in a small gesture and luckily the teacher asked someone else who had their hand raised up.
"Are you okay Mel?", I heard Audrey whisper to me. Giving back a nod I focused on listening to my classmate's answer.
50 minutes later
