Papyton is a shitty ship.

Sure, maybe it's good in fannon but in cannon, it just wouldn't work.

Papyrus and mettaton have a lot of the same qualities, however, both of them are competitive.

One would always outshine the other, there wouldn't be a balance.

It would be more of a companion than anything else. They would get into fights about attention and popularity.

It wouldn't work.

An example of an ok ship with mettaton would actually be sans.

Hear me the fuck out I don't ship this but it WORKS.

Sans is one of the only monsters who doesn't give a shit about mettaton.
He doesn't care about the attention.

He isn't the opposite of mettaton, both are secret nerds, which they could probably bond over.

Here's how I think it would start:
Sans and papyrus are at one of mettaton's shows, sans is the only one in the audience not screaming his head off, grabbing mettaton's attention.

After mettaton's show, he finds sans and starts to chat with him.

They bond over a small conversation and about a few minutes later they exchange numbers in case they want to talk again.

I don't ship it, but trust me it will work better than cannon papyton.
