It wasn't long before Fries found shovels for all of them, and they all met up at the northern end of the city. The lava was still a ways away, but gradually getting closer. Everyone started to dig.

"Dig, dig, dig!" Pin urged as everyone else began to shovel away dirt. "Work those tools like your life depends on it! Which it does! I'm looking at you, Ice Cube! No arms is no excuse!"

"But I don't know how to dig!" Icy complained. "My legs aren't very strong!"

"Looks like someone's been skipping leg day," Lollipop snickered.

Fries stepped in. "Ice Cube, do you want to live?"

"Yeah..."

"Then you'd better get digging! Because if you don't, that lava over there-" Fries pointed towards the mountain. "-is going to melt you!"

Reluctantly, Ice Cube tried to pick up her shovel and began to scratch away at the nearest patch of earth.

"Hey, you make a pretty good leader!" Pin complimented Fries.

"You're not doing too bad yourself," he complimented back. They high-fived.

Next to Match, a clock dinged. "Ooh! Break time!"

"Aw, yeah!" Pencil cheered. They both dropped their shovels.

"Hnngg!" Book had had enough of this. "Match! Pencil! If you two don't start digging again right now, you will both be demoted to bembers!"

"Aah!" the duo said simultaneously. They grabbed their shovels again and furiously started moving soil.

While their backs were turned, Book grabbed the alarm clock and punted it all the way up the mountain and into the lava. "I never liked clocks," she muttered.

Over in the TLC, Clock shuddered.

An hour later

Saw had to shield her eyes from the light of the miniature sun after being in the dark for about an hour. The inverted planet seemed mostly fine, except for the fact that Invy was trying to calm down a crowd of panicking peblets.

He spotted them. "Oh, hello, Saw and #42."

Saw waved and jogged over to his face, doing her best to not step on any peblets on the way. "Do you know what's causing these earthquakes?" she asked.

Invy gave the impression of shaking his head. "While I can control the earth in small amounts for a radius of a few miles, I do not know what has been happening lately. Yoyleland has never had a single earthquake until a few months ago."

Suddenly, Saw felt something land on her head and sizzle. She stepped back and looked up and, to her surprise, saw a thin but steady stream of lava flowing down from the hole that she fell through earlier. "What the heck?!"

Invy gasped as the stream quickly grew larger, covering Saw's feet in a matter of seconds. The peblets in the room started to scream and flee down the nearest tunnels as the unluckier ones melted in the ever-growing pool of lava. Saw just watched, dumbstruck, as lava pushed through more cracks in the walls and ceiling.

"I-Invy!" she finally cried. "What's going on? Can't you control the earth? Why aren't you closing the cracks?"

"What do you think I've been trying to do?" Invy spat back.

Saw looked closer and saw various cracks closing, but there were so many opening that it wasn't doing anything. "We have to get the peblets out of here! We have to..."
