"So who is Purple Face?" Balloony questioned. "I'm assuming he's your counterpart because you're, you know, Yellow Face. But what is he like?"
Yellow Face grew dark. "Purple Face is not just my counterpart. He is the pure embodiment of evil. A malignant form of hate, sent here years ago by the dark gods to destroy all of objectkind as we know it."
A long pause and an uneasy silence settled over the group. "Really?" Pin finally asked.
Yellow Face suddenly reverted back to his old, cheerful self. "NO," he admitted. "BUT HE IS PRETTY ANNOYING."
"Ohhhhh." The others nodded as if they understood perfectly.
Yellow Face pulled out another button and pressed it quickly. "THERE," he said, stashing the button away. "THAT SHOULD HOLD HIM FOR A WHILE."
"What did you do?" Clock asked.
"WELL, HE'S NOT ON THIS FLOOR," YF explained. "SO I JUST LOCKED THE DOORWAY THAT LEADS TO THE SECOND FLOOR."
"And what do we do?"
"CLEARLY, MY PREVIOUS PRISON DID NOT WORK." Yellow Face inspected the bent and torn metal bars of the cage Purple Face had supposedly escaped from, then turned towards the others. "SO YOU GUYS CAN HELP ME SET A NEW TRAP FOR HIM!"

"So where's all of our other siblings?" Ruby asked Emerald as they climbed the steps of the Yoyle Needy. Ice Cube was trailing behind them.
"Most of them are doing their own thing. I was hanging with Diamond, Coral, and Poo before I came to visit you. I haven't heard from a couple of them in a while, though..."
"Who?"
"I think they were Amethyst, Garnet, Jasper, Opal, Peridot, Sapphire, and Topaz."
"Huh." Ruby counted on her fingers. "Seven gems missing. I hope they're all right."
"Me too."
Ice Cube spoke up. "Is there an ice gem?"
"Nahhh," Ruby replied. "But there's Aquamarine! Aqua means water, right?"
Before Emerald could respond, she emerged from the dark stairwell into the bright sunlight. "Ahh!" She covered her eyes, momentarily blinded.
"Ruby! What the Spongy is going on here?" a loud, brash voice hollered. "Who is this, and why did you bring them here to discover our alliance secrets?"
"First of all, Pencil," Ruby said, almost sounding like she was scolding her, "the only alliance 'secret' is that we've been stashing gumdrops up here. Second, this is my sister, Emerald! I brought her up here for the view."
Emerald's eyes cleared, and she saw a pencil looming over her, glaring, with a matchstick behind them. A book suddenly pushed past them and stuck out their hand. "Hiya," she said. "Sorry about that. I'm Book, and this is Pencil and Match."
Match gave out a little wave. "Like, hi."
Emerald accepted the handshake and pulled herself up past the top step, out onto the balcony. Her jaw dropped. "Woah." Spread out below them was the full majesty of the no longer long-lost Yoyle City. "This view is incredible!" she gushed. "I mean, I saw the city from the top of the mountain, but it looked so small from up there. This place is HUGE!"
"I know, right??" Ruby said excitedly. "We've been here for three and a half years, and we haven't even really explored it all yet! Just wait until you see the Science Museum. It's got so many cool gadgets and-"
