Flynn and I made our way upstairs to Julie's room, me with my 3rd cup of coffee.
"Hey, I got your text." Flynn said as I sat on the bed.
"Don't come to close. Anything that I seem to care about disappeared." I smiled.
"You can't get rid of me, and neither can you. I'm like the crazy glue of bestfriends." I chuckled.
"I just don't get it. Right when my life starts to get good. Great friend, great band, then Bam!" She held up a drawing.
"I seriously don't know why all this is happening to you two, but that's gonna be a great album one day." I reached for Julie's hand.
Flynn kneeled down by mom's chest, grabbing one of mom's old sweaters.
"You don't have to do that." Julie and I said.
"I know, but I get to check out all your mom's cool stuff." Flynn said.
She looked into the chest before gasping.
"What?" I asked as Flynn pulled out a shirt that said Sunset Curve, causing me to raise a brow.
"Did you know this was in here?"
"What the heck?" Julie scoffed.
"How do you think she got it?" Flynn asked.
"I don't know, but the guys said they didn't know our mom." I said.
"Why would they lie?" Julie asked.
"Maybe they didn't. Maybe she knew them. She could be a fan!" Flynn told us.
"I mean, Sunset Curve was playing the Hollywood club scene around then." Julie said.
"Oh my gosh. What if you were right? What if the guys are connected to your mom? You know, through music or something." Asked Flynn.
"Because she bought their t-shirt?" Julie asked.
"Think about it. They were the ones who made you two wanna play music again. Maybe she knew they could help you."
"So, you mean to tell me that our mom is somewhere out there planning all this?" I asked.
"If she wanted me to play music again, why wouldn't she just tell us herself?" Julie asked.
"Maybe she can't. Maybe she has to do it another way. You know, through signs." Julie and I shared a look.
"You've been through these clothes how many time and haven't found this T-Shirt. Why now? This is another sign." Flynn said.
I bit my lip.
"I'm just saying. It's not over, girls!" She told us.
"Really? Signs?" Julie asked.
"You two are in a ghost band. It's a crazy world. Your both gonna lose them no matter what." Flynn told us as I drank the rest of my coffee.
"And it sucks. But they helped bring you two back to life. And it's your guy's turn to help them."
"They have to cross over. You have to let them go."
Julie and I looked at each other before nodding.
"I need another cup of coffee."
After getting my fourth cup of coffee, Julie and I made our way into the garage.
Alex laid on the couch with one of his drum sticks in his nose.
Reggie was on the chair playing with his guitar.
And Luke was laying on the floor.
"Snap out of it!" Julie clapped her hands scaring Alex.
"Jeez, I think you broke Alex." Reggie said.
"Do you guys want to cross over or not?" Julie asked.
They didn't move.
"Get it together." Julie clapped again.
"They're never gonna let us play the Orpheum." Luke said.
"We're nobody." Alex said.
"We're less than nobody. We have no bodies." Reggie said.
"Someone once told me that you don't ask for permission, then I told Emilia. You book gigs by doing." Julie said.
"That was me." Reggie smiled as we all looked at him.
"No it wasn't." Julie, Luke and I said.
"Yes it was." Reggie mumbled.
"We were brought together for a reason: to help each other." I nodded before placing my mug down.
"Yeah, but like Luke said, people don't just play the Orpheum because they want to." Alex said.
"People don't, but ghosts do." I said before putting my empty mug down.
"Now get up! Let's go! Come on! We're all in this together!" I said jumping on the table.
"Is she OK?"
"She had four cups of coffee." Julie said as I jumped down.
"Four cups and I'm ready to work! So let's get going." I said jumping around.
A couple of hours later; Luke and I sat on the couch, going over what song we should play.
"How about Stand Tall?" I asked.
"That's perfect." Luke replied.
"Yeah, and then." I leaned closer to him.
"Alex can sing, "Whatever happens, even if I'm the last standing, I'ma stand tall, I'ma stand tall"." I pointed to the end to last verse.
"And then Reggie can sing, "Whatever happens, even if I'm the last standing
I'ma stand tall, I'ma stand tall".""And then we all join in on with "Stand tall! Stand tall!"." Luke smiled at me.
"That's perfect." He said.
I smiled looking at him, only to see our faces were a couple inches apart.
We both slowly leaned in, as his eyes wandered to my lips.
We were almost about to kiss when the boys popped in making Luke and I jump apart.
"Hey guys." Reggie smiled sitting on the chair.
"Uh, I should head to bed, big day tomorrow." I said standing up.
"Goodnight, Emilia."
"Goodnight, boys." I said before closing the garage doors behind me.
