XAVIER'S P.O.V.
"Xavier" I hear my father speak from the other side.
"Chief." I address him formally.
"What's wrong?" He asks in a stern tone.
"Did you tell Andrianna's parents about Alessandro Valenti?" I ask knowing he definitely hasn't.
"No. And I thought that discussion was over." He says casually.
"I am afraid you have to tell them now, Chief. Because I am close to breaking a clause in the agreement."
And with that, I explain him everything. About how things got a little too personal, about the shooter, everything.
"Damn it Xavier! How could you lose focus like that?" I hear him raise his voice.
Okay, this is the second time he has talked to me like that.
"I am sorry, chief. I am aware of my mistake. This is why it is imperative that I be removed from the mission. I am sure Mathhew's mission is over by now, and you can also have Andrew take up my place." I suggest desperately.
"Yeah, well, you have literally left me no option." He says in the same loud tone. I can imagine him pacing across his room in frustration.
"I apologize again, sir. I assure you, it will not happen again." I close my eyes and mutter in a low voice.
"Xavier?" I hear my father sigh.
"Yes, chief?"
"Take care, son." He says in a bit soft tone and hangs up the phone.
I love him.
Sometimes it surprises me how I am lucky enough to be surrounded by such caring people. My father, mother, Samantha and Brian. They are always there to scold me and help me when I screw up.
I always wonder if I really deserve all this?
"Is it done?" I hear Brian ask.
"Yeah."
"This will be the first time we will be performing a mission without you." He says all of a sudden. I turn to look at him, to see him staring at the ceiling.
"I know." I mutter.
This sucks.
"Gosh, this sucks." Brian turns on his side to face me.
"Yeah, tell me about it." I mumble with my eyes closed.
"You will be in Toronto and we in New York. And god knows when this mission will be over." He says in annoyance.
"Brian?" I look at him.
"Yeah? He looks at me detecting the seriousness in my voice.
"I know this goes without saying, but, um, after I am gone, Andrianna---"
"I know, Xavier. I know. I promise we'll not let anything happen to her." He smiles which puts my racing heart at ease.
"Now we should get some rest. We have to leave for New York tomorrow." Brian says looking at his phone.
"I will leave for Toronto tomorrow evening. Matthew and Andrew will reach New York by lunchtime tomorrow." I say looking at the text my father sent me.
"You will be leaving so soon?" He asks furrowing his eyebrows.
"The sooner, the better." I whisper and close my eyes.

NOT A COINCIDENCE
