„Laureen!"

„Coming!" I yelled back as I was putting on my sweather.

Most people hate the first day of school but for me it's kinda great day.

New school year can mean much more than you might think.

It's a new begining.

Who knows what can this day bring and I would really like this year to be a bit more interesting.

What if I'll get a boyfriend??

Or I might become the class president!

Okay maybe I just watch movies too much.

„Are you all ready?" asked my mom and I just quickly checked my bag.

„Yup! Everything in there!"

„And what about Joshua? He's coming with us or what?" she asked one more question.

Joshua is our neighbor and basically my best friend ever.

We would always hang out together when we lived in LA.

I was his best friend and he was mine.

And it's been the same ever since.

Well I think there might have been a time when I had a tiny little crush on him but that was when we were kids.

But now I'm ready to meet someone and enjoy a high school romance!

„I don't know he's not answering my calls." I said and looked through a window to see if he's still home or left already.

„Anyway...we gotta go." commanded my mom and we all left.

It takes just a few minutes to get to the school from our house and still I'm always late.

Strangely, I came on time today.

I went straight to my locker to leave my books there and organise it nicely.

Stickers, photos with family and friends and my favourite idols.

Perfect.

„Hey!" someone suddenly bumped into the locker next to mine and the fact that it was Joshua made me laugh.

„What are you doing?" he literally rushed inside on his skateboard.

„Why didn't you wait for me?!" he whined and I closed my locker to look at him.

„I wanted to but I'd be late if I did that." I announced firmly.

„And? You're always late." you gave him an angry stare but your good mood was not gone.

„Today is the first day of school! That's the best day of the whole school year." I explained and he looked kind of confused.

„Wait...wasn't it the last day?" I just sighed and walked away.

„Hey Lau!" he shouted and his voice echoed through the whole corridor.

He's the only one who calls me that.

But I don't mind it, it became our habit in a way.

„Hey Shua." I said knowing that he was waiting for it and he smiled contently.

„Enjoy your first day of school." he said kindly and left.

I stood there smiling for myself like an idiot.

The school bell rang.

I quickly got into my classroom and sat on the place where I always sit.

„What's up?" ChaeRyeong joined me and we both successfully got through our first classes.

The lunch break.

A big possibility to meet someone and make new friends and relationships.

„ChaeRyeong-ah! Am I ugly?" I asked with a pissed voice.

„What? Why?" she laughed.

„There's no one who would go out with me..." I whined.

„Do you want to have your high school romance that badly?" she asked ironically just when Joshua joined us.

„What's up?" he sat next to ChaeRyeong and she looked at him.

„Do you think Laureen is ugly?" she asked and he looked a bit surprised.

„Ugly? No...Annoying? Maybe..." I quickly threw some fries at him and we all laughed.

After lunch I went to my locker to take some books.

But as soon as I opened it a small paper fell out.

„Hm?" I didn't remember putting in that paper.

I picked it up and after reading what it said I really felt like in a high school romance movie.

'You have the prettiest smile. I hope that you'll be happy like this for the rest of the year.'

Oh. My. God.

I had no clue who would write me such a thing but this was the miracle I was waiting for.

The fact that someone likes me made me feel unexpectedly happy.

„Hey Shua!!" I noticed him passing by so I stopped him quickly.

„Look what I got!!!" I showed him the paper proudly.

„I can't believe that this is happening to me! Someone literally gave me a note saying that I have the prettiest smile!"

„Yeah...I see. You should tell ChaeRyeong to not joke around with you like this." he cooled me down this simply.

„What? ChaeRyeong? Why would she do that?" I didn't get it.

„And why would anyone else do that?" seriously what is with him?

„I don't know. But I'm just so happy right now. What if he'll write another one?" I said excitedly.

„How do you know that it's a guy?" I came to a wrong person.

„Can't you just be happy with me?"
I held his arm and shook it a bit.

„You know I'm happy as long as you are." he smiled kindly. Finally, the Joshua I know has returned.
