Chapter 15

"Sonia?" Victor called out as he closed the front door of the lab behind him. 

He walked into the lit up Pokémon lab, Sonia and Hop were still sitting around the table drinking a cup of tea together. He was welcomed by the two and took a seat across of them at the round table. Gloria was coming soon too, but Victor wanted to speak with Sonia first about his concerns about his sister. Two days had past since the meeting with Gloria and Cane. He was still shocked at what he had seen. Gloria had been tired ever since. She slept in late, which was nothing like her at all. 

''You're quite early, Leon has yet to arrive! Where's Gloria by the way?'' Sonia asked him curiously.

Victor narrowed his eyes. "I came early since I thought there's something you should know... I'm actually really worried about her.'' 

Sonia put the Yamper shaped teacup down on the table and focused all her attention on what the boy was about to say. Hop's eyes glistered a little when he heard Victor mention the champion's name. He had his head lifted up too now in interest. ''Why?'' He asked his best friend. 

''Well,'' Victor started off '', we met up with Cane two days ago. He gave Glo this weird red necklace and ordered her to take out Eternatus. Gloria's body started reacting like it usually did, but she seemed to have it under control... It even seemed as if she was controlling Eternatus's movements!'' He quickened up the pace mid sentence. 

''Wait, so she was eventually controlling Eternatus?'' Sonia asked him to be sure.

Victor nodded twice. ''Yeah.'' 

''But what happened afterwards?'' Hop added to Sonia's question. 

The brown haired boy looked away for a few seconds. He actually felt a sting of shame that he took Gloria away from him, it really was a breakthrough in their research. But no, he had to reassure himself; he did the right thing. The way Cane looked at him as he took Gloria away from him send shivers down his spine at that moment, yet his voice was sweet and kind as it was usually. 

''I took Gloria back home with me. It's the way how Cane looked at me that makes me nervous actually. He knows something we don't.'' 

''See, I told you from the beginning!'' Hop loudly said as he slammed his fist loudly atop of the table. ''He must've known the effect of the stone beforehand!'' 

Sonia laughed awkwardly and gave her assistant a few pats on his head. ''There there Hop, we all know you disliked him for another reason now, ain't that right Victor?'' 

The young boy nodded along jokingly. Hop started to turn beet red and looked away in shame. He didn't even deny it this time, which made the brown haired boy chuckle a little. 

''But there's something more, isn't there?'' Sonia asked him with a tilted head.

''Actually, yes.'' Victor muffled quietly. ''I think she's secretly meeting up with Cane at night to continue what I was trying to stop... Behind my back, you know... She's never had a secret for me before...'' 

Hop narrowed his eyes back to his best friend when he heard the name Cane  come by again. Sonia walked over to Victor and rested her hand comfortingly on the brown haired boy's shoulder. 

''Aww, there there. I'm sure she doesn't mean any harm with it. You know, if you want to be sure you can always sneak out and follow her. Its totally something I would do if it were my sister, y' know?'' She said with a wink. 

Hop shook his head. ''I don't know if following her behind her back is a good idea...'' 

But Victor nodded. ''I will follow her, thanks Sonia.''
