Aaron's POV
I sighed as I looked at the small fire that was blazing in front of us as we all lied there.
"Why can't I fall asleep?" Garroth groaned.
"I'm stressed. That's why I'm not sleeping." I sighed.
"So, you both can't sleep. Can I hear the story about what happened in Tu'la with you two and Aphmau?" Katelyn looked over at us.
"You're better at telling it than I am." Garroth looked at me. I sighed.
"Ok." I took a deep breath. "The three of us needed to attend to some business in Frostport. That's where the King of Tu'la lives. We made the long tiring trip up there and we were miserable. It was more like Frostbite. It was so cold. We were all kinda sick."
"Aphmau was so sick Aaron had to carry for some of the trip." Garroth added. I nodded.
"Yeah, so we got there and that night we were in the village and we were looking around for something, I can't remember what though. Garroth, do you remember?" I looked over to him. He shook his head.
"No idea. Aphmau didn't even tell me," He said with a shrug.
"Anyways, so one night we were walking around the village and we saw the King with the Queen and he wasn't treating her right, to say the least, and you know Aphmau so you can probably guess she said something. She went off on the King about how he wasn't treating her right and how women deserve to be treated better and the King did not take kindly to it. The guards immediately came after us and we almost got murdered." I chuckled.
"Wow." Katelyn laughed.
"Oh, I'm not done." I smirked. "The next night- Oh, Garroth, you never got this full story. Sorry, anyways, the next night Aphmau and I were walking through Frostport and we were talking about..." I paused to think of a filler for what we were talking about, "Things."
Nailed it.
I continued. "So we were talking and we decided since we were bored just to grab a drink and then head back to where we were staying. We both ordered drinks and continued talking and suddenly this dude walked up to me and her and he started hitting on her. I'll be honest I had maybe one too many drinks. I wasn't drunk, but I wasn't completely there, if you know what I mean. I did the only logical thing I could think of and I punched the guy in the face. I got into a fight with this dude and we were going at each other when guards were involved and we got pulled apart. Then I started going at the guards. At this point Aphmau was basically dragging me out. The guards threw us out of the village and threatened us not to come back."
"And here we are going back..." Garroth shook his head.
"Yep." Katelyn smiled. I looked down.
"Does anyone have any other stories with Aphmau?" Garroth asked.
"I don't have any great ones but, Aaron, I've heard you met Aphmau pretty strangely. Something with a sword..." Katelyn put her hand on her chin in thought.
"Heh, that was the second time I met her. Basically, I had been through a lot not too long before and I felt with everything with my blade, so I wasn't the most rational person at the time. I saw Aphmau as she was walking through the forest. Something inside of me made me think she most likely had something to do with Zane. I knocked her to the ground and held my sword to her neck. She made me realize she hated Zane as much as I did. I helped her up and helped her with her village right as you guys were on the brink of war. After that we went to the Irene dimension and then we got closer as time progressed and now we're friends." I smiled thinking about her.
I wish she were here in my arms.
"I'm gonna try and sleep," Garroth said, shifting in his spot.
"Same, here." Katelyn agreed. I nodded and leaned back.
"I'm probably not able to sleep. Good night," I said, shaking my head. They fell asleep and I sighed.
I stayed up all night stressed.
