*a/n: i'm new to writing so this might not be the absolute best but i honestly think it's not too bad (if i do say so myself hehe) so sorry if it's a bit messy or slow, but trust me the next chapter will get interesting, it's when we meet our first love interest ;). also DISCLAIMER i'm not fluent in japanese, but i wanted to make the story as realistic as possible, so idek if i'm using the correct terms for grandma but from what i know that is how you use them. if someone is fluent or knows i'm wrong PLEASE CORRECT ME!! last thing is that the time skips and other author notes will be in between these little stars **. ok thats it enjoy the story :)*
OC's:
Y/n: Thats you! It stands for "Your name"
Best Friend: Sakura
Grandma: O-Baachan/Sobo (name for grandma in Japanese)Introduction:
Growing up you never had too many friends, not because you were mean or shy or anything but because you were independent, you weren't afraid to stand up to and call out people, you could even be a bit fierce.
At the same time you were also very observant of the world around you, you take notice of those small things people do, you analyze and strategize. And thats all thanks to your grandma, she was one of the only people who was truly ever there for you, she taught you everything you know. She taught you to be brave, be smart, be clever, and to fight.
Honestly you and grandma probably bonded the most fighting, no not actually fighting as in arguing, real fighting as in martial arts. It was always very important to her that you knew how to fight and defend yourself. You never knew why, but you had to admit you did become pretty strong, so you didn't mind.
Your mother and father passed away when you were really young so you don't really know much about them. Whenever you asked grandma she never really gave you a straight answer either. All you had left of them was a necklace, it was a small gold heart locket with a fancy letter K engraved in the middle, it always confused you why the letter K?
On the inside was a picture of your parents smiling, naturally you never took off the necklace. All your life so far had been pretty normal, but on your 18th birthday is when everything had been turnt upside down.
*2 days before 18th birthday*
Today had been one of those long slow days. Not to mention your best friend Sakura had been chasing you around everywhere basically harassing you to make plans for your birthday.
Because of all of this you felt tired, and drained all you wanted to do was get home and sleep, so as soon as you heard that bell ring you got up as fast as you could so you could finally relax.
But of course with your luck just as you were heading out the doors of the school it seemed like Sakura popped out of no where and now there she was.
She said, "Y/nnnnn you can't just keep ignoring me all week, your 18th birthday is in 2 days, it's a special day, I want you to make the most out of it".
You told her "Sakura I know you care about me but honestly I'm fine with not doing anything, I'd rather just stay home and do a movie marathon with you and Sobo like we always do".
You and Sakura had been best friends since the very beginning of elementary school, unlike you she was a bit more impulsive and spontaneous. But it honestly wasn't a bad trait, it was one of the things you liked about her, how she just lived life how she wanted.
You guys kept arguing back and forth a little but eventually changed the subject , Sakura walked with you back to your house, and then went home.
