It was cold.

That's all he felt really.

Other than the static flowing beneath his skin steadily, a dull headache starting up behind his eyes.

He must have fallen asleep at some point...

after....

Where's Zack?

Looking around at the monochrome room, Scythe spotted Reese laying in the corner. Appearing a lot more healthy than he had in hours. Days even he'd assumed.

Frantically stumbling to his feet Scythe gripped the wall. A wave of nausea hit and his vision blacked out momentarily. His eyes scanned every exposed surface of the room, finding no places where Zack could possibly be hiding.

"Reese!"

The irishman's body shifted slightly, the booming voice of a pissed off Scythe not easily ignored.

Before he could fully wake up Reese, Scythe was hit by another mini-blackout. Falling to his knees as his legs gave out beneath him. Yet, this time it was accompanied by answers.

-

"Oh? What do we have here?" The sound of boots hitting cement heavily is what woke Scythe up the first time. He was warm this time. Zack wrapped securely in his arms, still in Scythe's hoodie, which practically swallowed the poor boy.

Scythe pulled Zack into his arms and shielded his smaller frame as he pressed them both against a far wall. There was a handful of armed men and people in lab coats that walked into the room, they split up at the doorway and revealed a woman in sickeningly bright red lipstick. She was staring directly at Scythe, eyes focused on Zack curled up against his chest. Who was slowly waking up and blinking up at his larger friend in confusion.

"Scythe? Scy what's going on?"  He was lightly tugging at his shirt now, scared by the sudden intrusion of unknown faces.

"It's alright, come here." With a low voice he quieted Zack, using one hand to cradle the back of his head and hold him against his heart, the other was wrapped securely around Zack's bent knees and torso. The smaller man was practically a part of the taller, no way of escaping his hold. Although he didn't particularly want to at this moment...

Scythe was also conveniently blocking Zack's view of a man kicking Reese in the ribs until he finally woke up. Once he did wake up however, the man kicking him was suddenly on his back and bleeding profusely from the back of his head. Reese kicked him a few times before one of the lab rats stabbed him with a syringe. That guy also now had a broken nose before Reese stumbled and fell to the ground. Eyes fighting to stay open and body twitching weakly.

It was by then that Scythe realized the remaining men were walking straight towards him and Zack. Practically growling, his body tensed and he prepared to fight. Yet, before he could even get a punch in, there were several barrels pointed at his head. Threatening silently to end it all with a single bullet.

The woman in red started moving then. Her heels clicked against the hard floor and echoed in the quiet room. Scythe's aggravated breathing and Zack's heart practically pounding out of his chest, head shoved willingly into Scythe's chest, were the most present things at that moment. With cold eyes, Scythe followed the woman's every step. All the way over to Reese's now still body. Eyes shut and mind momentarily vacant.

She crouched down next to him, long red claw-like nails grabbed dusty brown hair, pulling Reese's head up at what would have been a painful angle.
