Kuroo tucked his hands in the pockets of his sweatpants, his brows furrowed together. he heard a voice yesterday, a singing voice. his friends told him about this. how you are able to hear the voice of your soulmate whenever they are singing once you pass fifteen years of age. he never heard anything so why now when he is seventeen? the answer might be that his soulmate just turned fifteen.
he confessed to Kenma yesterday about hearing a voice. the dual-haired listened to him, he couldn't help him however because he still doesn't hear his soulmate. they were currently on a train together, on the way to their morning practice. Kuroo would normally tease Kenma about whatever, maybe about him lazing around during practice but not today. he was stuck in his head, the same as the voice he heard yesterday.
Kenma eyed him for a second, the game noises from his PSP flying towards their ears. it felt weird without his best friend talking, even though it was annoying most of the time. Kuroo suddenly stiffened and that caught Kenma's attention, his game ending with his character being killed.
'do you remember summer 09? wanna go back there every night. just can't lie, it was the best time of my life.'
the voice was back, even this early in the morning? who is awake this early in the morning aside from them going to their practice?
"you hear it again?" Kenma asked and snapped Kuroo out of his trance, the voice still singing somewhere in the background of his head. Kuroo just nodded his head, trying to listen and figure anything out.
"is it a girl?" Kenma continued to question his friend.
"yeah, and she has the most beautiful voice i have ever heard," Kuroo whispered and listened, knowing what song she is singing. rock me by one direction.
"do you know her?" Kenma started his game again, pressing more buttons together to get combo attacks while listening to the bed head captain.
"i don't think so. i would for sure remember a voice like this." he was right, no one could forget a voice like this. a voice so soft, energetic yet so calming.
"maybe she's a singer." Kenma threw in and Kuroo just scoffed. he would know a singer with this voice for sure. "good luck finding her then."
"yeah, it's not like i have a shazam for voices in my head," he mumbled and crossed his arms over his chest covered in his favorite black shirt. it was almost the end of spring, the weather was pretty nice outside, meaning the training camp was coming closer and closer.
Kuroo needs to get this voice out of his head. what is the chance of him finding her anyway? he needs to focus on training, their only goal is to qualify for the spring tournament and make the battle at the garbage dump happen. but how is he going to do that with such a distraction?
he didn't even realize it but he was already falling for the girl without ever seeing her. that is the power of soulmates. all it took was her voice and he felt like he was on a cloud 9. everyone noticed it during practice. while yesterday Kuroo was shocked by the new tone in his head, today it felt like he is rather more energetic, as if the song gave him a boost. as if it was there just for him.
