-Mentions abuse and self harm

The next few days, I stayed at home. I was still in a lot of pain, but it was finally getting better. My face was less bruised. The cuts on my arms were healing slowly but surely and today was the first day I went back to school again. I was waiting for Clay to ring the bell so we would go to the bus together. I was very scared to be alone, so he promised me to stay with me.

'George, sweetie. Clay is here.'

I walked downstairs and looked at Clay walking in. He smiled, it made me blush.

'How are you, George?'

'B-better.'

He softly stroke my shoulder and smiled. 'Good.'

I said goodbye to my mum and Clay and I walked outside. He grabbed my hand and made me stop walking.

'George?'

I nodded. 'Yes?'

'I have been so scared, can I maybe just check on you?'

'W-what?'

'Your arms?'

I smiled and looked around me. When I was sure no one could see us I rolled my sleeves up.

'You didn't do it anymore,' he smiled brightly.

'I said I wouldn't.'

'I just wanted to make sure, I don't want you to hurt yourself.'

'Sorry.'

'For what?'

'Hurting you.'

'You hurt yourself, Georgie. I don't want you to be hurt.'

I blushed and he did too.

'The bus,' I whispered when we looked into each other's eyes for over two minutes.

He nodded quickly and we walked to the bus. The whole day went by pretty quickly. Peter still didn't get back to school, so the days in school were way more relaxed than normal. Before I even knew the day was over. Clay went back to home, his parents wanted him to be at home for once to talk. Clay already saw a big argument coming.

I sat down on the couch and drank some water. My mother drank tea and asked me about my day at school.

'How did it go?

'F-f-fine, Peter is s-s-s-still suspended.'

'Was it nice to see Clay?'

I blushed a little and nodded heavily. 'Yes.'

'You get so excited when you see him.'

I shrugged. 'He is very sweet.'

'Do you like him?'

'Yes. As f-f-friends of course.'

'Have you ever thought about him as more than friends?'

'Eh-.'

'As like a boyfriend?'

'I d-don't know. H-h-how do I k-know?'

'Do you only want to chill with them or do you want more?'

'I want to c-cuddle with him- I mean-.'

My mum grinned.

'S-stop l-l-laughing.'

'Sorry, is my son in love?'

'No! Not at all.'

My mum laughed. 'Sure.'
