Four

Usually, if I don't wake up to an alarm, I wake up to Maddie poking at me. Today I up to neither, I checked the time and saw that it was 10am, which is late for me. Chris was already up I assume seeing that he wasn't in bed. I got up and brushed my teeth, then I changed from my pajama shorts and into yellow yoga pants and put on a black windbreaker over my tank top.

I went downstairs and saw Chris playing on the couch with Maddie. I walked over and kissed them both on the forehead. "Morning, did you guys eat?" I asked.

"Good morning mommy", Maddie greeted me, while laughing at Chris.

"Good morning baby and not yet", Chris said still making faces at Maddie.

"Let's make breakfast", I say to Maddie before picking her up and going into the kitchen.

"What should we have for breakfast?" I asked Maddie sitting her on top of the island.

"Um, ice cream?" Maddie replies with a huge grin.

"No ma'am, how about smoothies?" I suggest and Maddie nods pointing to the bananas on the counter by the refrigerator. I grab the bananas, some strawberries and blueberries from the freezer, the almond milk and yogurt. I cut the fruit and toss it in the blender along with the almond milk and some chia seeds. I blended it all together and poured some in a cup for Maddie before adding protein powder to the rest of it, I put some in two cup for Chris and I.

I sat Maddie at the table with her cup and took Chris his. I went back and sat at the table with Maddie. After we finished, I took Maddie upstairs to put her on some clothes. I dressed her in a blue short sleeved hoodie dress, and biker shorts under it, I brushed her hair into two puff balls and put a blue headband with a small bow on it on top of her head. I kissed her on both cheeks and told her that she's beautiful. I sat her on the dresser and put her black high top vans on her feet.

When we went back to the living room she went to sit next to Chris, he told her she looked like a princess and I smiled as she thanked him. I walked into the kitchen for a water bottle and saw Nevaeh eating the rest of the smoothie I made. She looked up at me and asked what I had planned for the day besides dinner at Liz's.

"Not much I told her, Chris and I are going on a run in a few." I told her taking a sip from my water bottle.

"What about Maddie?" She asked putting her bowl in the sink.

"She can go with us, her stroller is in the car."

"No, leave her with me again today, I wanna take her to the aquarium at Union Station and then to the splash pad."

"Alright we'll meet up with y'all later." I say twisting the top on my water bottle.

"Great, does she have a swimsuit?" Nevaeh asked.

"I didn't think to bring it, one of us can go grab her one from the store." I say.

"I'll grab her one on the way, you guys can go."

"Okay, she's already dressed, I love you, be safe", I tell her before kissing her cheek and walking into the living room to get Chris.

"Come on, let's go for a run, Nevaeh is taking Maddie out", I say to Chris while standing in front of his view of the tv.

"Okay let me go change I'll be right back", he says getting up. He comes back down five minutes later in a hoodie, joggers and running shoes. He also has my shoes, I grab my running shoes from him and slip them on. I kiss Maddie's forehead before leaving out the door.

"How far you wanna go?" He asks taking my hand.

"Two miles there and back" I reply before taking off.
