Katrina opened her eyes and found herself lying on the floor on a kind of mattress made from jungle plants. The blanket it was resting on was the same, made from fairly large, leafy plants. She couldn't see anything. It was very dark, but she could see that she didn't have her clothes. On the other hand, she wore other clothes that she couldn't see clearly but she felt comfortable and hadn't felt cold during the entire time she had been sleeping.
"Aerdnah!" She shouted. "Muuqe!"
She wanted to cry but she didn't. She thought that she had cried enough in the time she was in that dimension, besides, she was the chosen one... She thought that she should behave as such and give security to the inhabitants of the island. Everything was going to be fine, even when she, herself, didn't have confidence that she could succeed.
She jumped up and tried to see anything around her. Oh no! She thought. Was it already night? How long had I been sleeping? She felt a chill run down her spine. Suddenly she heard someone approaching stealthily. She didn't know exactly where the steps were coming from, and she still couldn't see anything.
"Aerdnah?" She asked emptily.
No one answered, but she knew that whatever was approaching, there it was, in the same place she was.
"Whoever you are, be brave and show yourself!" She screamed in fear, trying to keep her composure.
The creature came a little closer to her. She could feel it.
"Who are you?" She asked again without knowing very well where she had to direct her gaze.
Her eyes gradually became accustomed to the darkness and she began to slowly distinguish what was around her. Suddenly, with great effort, she saw the being. Katrina started running without knowing very well where, and then the creature came looking for her. It growled.
"Aerdnah!" She cried as she ran.
She managed to get out of that place and kept running. In the moment, it was already night. Without realizing it, she entered the jungle but the creature caught her before she could take another step and she fell to the ground.
"Help! Aerdnah!" She shouted again, trying to fight with that being.
The creature was biting her and she couldn't do anything about it. She wasn't strong enough and that infinite darkness didn't help. Suddenly something came out of the brush and threw the creature away from Katrina with a tackle. Only the roar of animals fighting could be heard. She thought she recognized Aerdnah. Seconds passed that felt like minutes. The most intense that she had ever lived.
"Katrina, are you okay?!"
It was Aerdnah.
"Aerdnah!" She cried, sobbing and came running up to her to hold her when Katrina stumbled over a log that was on the ground and collapsed. She lay on the floor crying. She didn't even feel strength to get up. The panther approached her quickly and lay down beside her as she stroked Aerdnah's face with hers.
"Katrina, I know you're scared but we have to go home. The jungle at night is not the safest place to be." And she smiled, or so it seemed to be a smile to Katrina.
She got up slowly as she was badly hurt.
"Katrina, you're wounded! Let's go right now! Get on!" Said Aerdnah hysterically.
The animal had bitten Katrina on the arm. Deep down, she was comforted to see that someone cared about her in that place. She felt a little more secure.
She mounted Aerdnah's back and Aerdnah ran to the place where they had been before. They arrived in a few minute since they weren't far away.
"I shouldn't have let you sleep alone. I thought you would want some privacy and tranquility, but I was wrong. From now on, you'll sleep with me."
