When I'm driving the car down the street, I know that most peoples eyes are on me.

Well, the car.

As I'm waiting for the light to change to green, a dude in an obnoxious neon green sports car next me starts to rev his car, trying to either intimidate or impress me.

That was a mistake.

Without missing a beat I rev the car louder, looking back at the dude's face who looks as though he was just showed up by a teenage girl. Well, I guess he was.

I smile at him, wave him off as the light turns green, slamming my boot into the acceleration to leave the dude in the dust, giving him the finger whilst holding onto the wheel as he turned into a mere speck.

As midtown nears, I realise that once again people are looking at my direction.

But this time it's not the car they're looking at.

More like who's driving it.

*****

I park the car, well aware of the freshman beginning to ogle and point at the car.

I pull down the mirror and just before I'm about to decide what lipstick to wear my phone rings again.

Seriously has everyone decided to start calling me today?

"Hello, who dis?" I ask.

"It's Raf" responds the little girl.

Raf (short for Rafaella) is Caitlin's little sister, who despite being 9 was one of the sassiest people I know, and that's coming from me.

"So what do I gotta do to get you to pass the phone to Caitlin?"

"Depends. What can you get me?"

"How bout one of those giant rainbow lollipops like the ones in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,"

"Deal," she says after thinking about it for a minute. She also has a big sweet tooth, though it's nothing compared to mine.

"Hello?" Caitlin asks but barely has time to say another word before I interrupt.

"Turn on FaceTime now please," I plead.

"Whats up why are you freaking out"

"Well, last I checked everyone seems to be staring at me in my car, I'm freaking out and I don't know which shade of lip gloss to wear!" I say frustrated, I'm not usually someone that cares about my makeup but it's the first day, they have a whole year to see me show up in sweats and messy buns.

"Ok calm down. First off what outfit are you wearing." She says calmly.

"Uh, the one with the white turtleneck,"

"That ones cute! Ok now show me the options."

"There's this one which matches the car but that doesn't matter, and this one that's like cherry sort of I don't know,"

"Don't worry bout it. Wear the cherry one because that will look cute with the outfit. Now, look at me." She demands as I'm putting on the lipstick.

"You are Maria Alexander Stark, a badass girl who's going to walk into that school and look hella good while doing it too. She says hyping me up.

"Yeah, your right."

"When am I ever wrong. You can do this, have a great first day, love ya."

"Love ya too," I say as I turn off my phone and take a deep breath.

You can do this.

*****

As I open the door and step out of the car, I can hear more and more people starting to talk, pointing their fingers and phones at me, starting to form a crowd at the steps.
