Kun
I glanced at my dad who looked at me with a frown and shook his head. What the fuck is going on here, I thought mom said she and dad would solve it? And now here I am being announced of this nightmare of a news without warning and in front of YuXin?
Grandpa gave me a pensive look and lowered his voice, "Kun, time for you to step up as the heir of our company."
I bit my lips in anger, trying to keep myself from spewing vulgarities and walked off the stage courteously. I got to find YuXin.
"Hey bro, didn't know you got a fiance, congrats. She looks pretty cute," Ziyi patted my back. Ignoring his words I asked, "Where's Yuxi?"
"He went out with Yibo senior over there," Zhen Ting pointed, "he looked a little pale just now." I made my way over to the garden hurriedly, wait for me YuXin.
Yibo and YuXin were sitting on the bench, the former had his hand on her shoulder while she sniffed and rubbed her eyes. Fuck, I've made her cry when I promised to not let her shed any tears. I clenched my fist in frustration, angered by my own incompetrnce.
"YuXin, listen to me." I bend down and held on her hand, "That was a mistake, I will fix it." She looked up to me with her eyes filled with hurt, "Kun.. You met her in Sanya, why didn't you tell me.. She's the one I've met there.. The girl I was talking to you about.."
"I.. I didn't think it was anything serious.. I told my parents I wasn't interested in her and they said they will solve it.." ruffling my hair in frustration I continued, "I didn't know grandpa would announced it just like that.."
Wiping her tears, YuXin replied softly, "So what's going to happen now? Are we.. Breaking up?" her voice broke a little as she said her last word.
"No, no way in hell am I ever going to let you go." I held on her hand tightly as my eyes darkened. "I'll have a talk with my parents right after this." I'm not going to let YuXin go, no matter what they say.
Kun's mom
"Darling, I thought you said you're going to have a chat with your dad.. Is this how it turned out?" I gripped on my husband's thigh angrily, causing him to wince in pain.
"Ahh... Dear I didn't know... I swear, I thought he would let it go," he replied softly as he looked at me in panic.
Geez, that old man, always trying to dictate others to live a life according to his will. I won't let that happen to Kun.
"We need to discuss this with your dad. After the party." I glared at my husband coldly.
"Dad, Kun's marriage is not something you should interfere with," I said calmly. "He should have his own choice to determine who and what he wants to do."
"Don't give me that young people bullshit, Kun is my only heir, I won't have him get together with any girl on the street. He needs someone compatible," The old man replied stubbornly.
"But he is already seeing someone, how can you just interfere with his life just like that? I'm his mom. And I disagree with this arrangement." I stood up and replied in anger.
YuXin
"Wait here YuXin, I'll have a talk with my mom." Kun led me to outside of the his mom's study room. As we were nearing the room, I could hear aunty's voice, ".. I disagree with the arrangement."
"And I am his grandfather," a voice boomed. "Whatever low class girl he's dating right now. I will not approve of it." The words hit me hard and I stood there with an ache in my heart. Maybe, Kun and I are living in different world..
Squeezing my hand, Kun whispered, "Ignore his words, I will talk to them." He opened the door and walked in.
"Kun, this girl you're seeing right now, give her some money and break up with her immediately. I will not have you tarnish our reputation," his grandpa demanded.
"No, no I won't. Grandpa, I will not be engage to Shuxin." Kun rejected vehemently.
"Dad, why can't you just let Kun decide on his future?" Uncle asked.
"His future is the future of my company! How can I let him decide to get together with a nobody? My decision is final. "
The shouting escalated in the background and I could hear uncle and aunty trying to reason with his grandpa.
My head hurts hearing the squabbling. Is this all worth it? Fighting for our puppy love when we can't get blessing from his grandpa and now it's causing the family to have disagreement. Don't be silly YuXin, you're just a low class girl who's not worthy to be beside Kun. He's the heir of the largest corporation in China, you are a nobody.. This fairytale of yours would have to end eventually...
I walked up to Kun's room to pack my luggage, dialling Xue Er's number.
"Hey, can you come and pick me up? I.. I need a break from things."
Xue Er
"Yah, I'm going to fetch YuXin," I grabbed my wallet and glanced towards shaking and YuYan, pointing to the latter with a warning, "Control your anger when YuXin is here."
This asshole Kun, how could he get engaged with another girl just like that. Luckily Ziyi messaged me and updated me about this, if not I would be caught off guard by YuXin's call.
I hailed a cab and went over to Kun's house which was surprisingly close to my neighbourhood. Damn, so this huge house is his. I always wondered who was staying in this posh looking house.
YuXin stood in the corner of the gate with her luggage, huddling on to herself while she wiped away the tears that were falling from her eyes. How did it all come to this? I've never seen YuXin in such a dejected manner before.
"I'm here, let's go to my house." I pulled her into the cab as the driver put her luggage into the boot.
"Shh.. It's okay," I comforted her patted her head gently as she lay on my shoulder, trying not to cry. Cai Xukun, you asshole.
Kun
The yelling match in the room escalated and soon grandpa was huffing in anger, shouting, "Kun is getting engaged and that's final!" He slammed the door opened and stomped out angrily.
YuXin! I ran out of the room and YuXin was nowhere to be seen. Did she went up to my room?
"Kun, whatever it is, just follow your heart," mom clasped her hand on my shoulder in encouragement. Nodding, I ran up to my room, surprised to see YuXin's stuff was gone. Where is she?! My heart started beating anxiously as I ran around the house frantically trying to find her.
I dialled her phone, "YuXin, where are you? Why did you pack your stuff and leave? I told you I would solve this," I said in a flustered tone.
"Kun.. I just want to let you and your family have your own space to talk. I'm okay, really. I'm just heading over to Xue Er's house to stay for a few days. I'll see you in school okay?" YuXin chirped happily. "I've got to go, the girls and I are going to have a slumber party." Before I could answer, she hung up. This girl, why's she trying to act strong in front of me. I could hear her voice trembling a little from her chirpy facade. YuXin, are you really alright?
Shaking
" I'm alright girls," YuXin forced a smile, glancing at the three of us with her puppy eyes. "Really. Stop looking at me like I'm a sick patient," she laughed. Sigh, she's still the same, trying not to get everyone to be worried about her.
"Mei mei, you.. Do you want to have some ice-cream? I've bought your favourite flavour!" I offered her the matcha flavoured ice-cream and she took it gratefully.
"let's have a slumber party just like the old days!" I eyed YuYan who got my cue and nodded furiously. "Yeah YuXin, I haven't gotten the chance to beat you in this game!" she reached out for a random board game hastily, "Let's play together."
If she doesn't want to talk then at least we can help distract her from this pain.
