In the middle of an endless night,
Nothing but the distant stars lighting the sky,
Even those dreams a unconsidered possibility, dashed off by most.
In a dark world of extremism, polarisation and near constant crises,
Things just seem never ending,
Like the order has been ripped up,
Humanity now in a seemingly endless free fall towards doom.In this free fall towards the dark,
People have given up what makes them human,
The light parts of their souls,
And given in to the darkness.
Constantly fighting, blaming each other for the fall,
Compromise and reason seemingly destroyed,
The lightbulbs now crashed.
There sometimes seems to be no more hope left, kindness and the light seemingly extinguished. However, I think that's not right.
In a pandemic, increasing polarisation, horrifying revelations and suspicion,
I think there will still be light.
Even if not obvious,
Just look under the surface of the media, the conspiracies, the darkness,
And you'll see the truth.
There is always an equal amount of hope, kindness, happiness,
People finally achieving their goals,
People posting kind things in the comments of a content creator or just their friend,
People making changes to help improve things.
Even if these appear tiny in the face of crushing dark,
Enough of them will make a real difference,
And trust me, they do.Even if there is hate,
I'm going to try and be love instead.
I'll never be perfect, I have darkness myself, like all of us,
But I hope I can at least bring a bit of light in this world with my words,
My musings on a world that is more confusing then ever.
I think someday, we'll be ok.
That might take a while, but there will always be the hope of new things.
So please, just be kind.
I know the world makes fun of those who are kind, calling them weak or useless,
But in truth, the light will always prevail the dark.
The world promotes the darkness,
But it's often better to be the light.
So never give up on your dreams,
Value everything you have in this short life of yours,
And please, try to be kind.
That's how to fix this place,
Because all we need is hope,
And I hope sometime, we can make it work.
I dont know how it will,
I'm just a poet, maybe philosopher, trying to come up with my own answers about this world and this life.
But I hope it brings you light, no matter how small,
So together, the darkness can be pushed back,
Even if just a little bit.
Thank you.('The world is indeed full of peril, and in it there are many dark places, but still there is much that is fair, and though in all land love is now mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater.' JRR Tolkien)
