There will be hope, there will be life,
There will be freedom, there will be peace.
That's all we want to hear right now.
In the aftermath of a year that turned the world into a chaotic mess,
I hope that whatever comes after will be better then what we've just come out of.
Whatever happens,
We must try to create whatever new world 2021 brings,
Into a greater world then the one we had before it,
Because we can't turn back anymore. This year has been a lot,
From the pandemic,
To the US election,
A borderline facist president finally defeated,
To the many other events that have shaken every nation across this world.
However, i hope that this year has proven something to all of us,
That this world needs changes.
And those changes are coming,
But we need more hope. With a new president coming in,
One potentially to heal a broken nation after 4 years of chaos,
A new decade to leave the pain of the last decade and a bit behind,
New targets, new dreams and new dangers,
I hope that someday it'll be our turn to shine,
It'll be our day to finally be free and change the world,
To be the generation the world has hoped for for eternity.
We don't know much,
But all we know is that there is no turning back anymore.
We must face the future, and liberate ourselves from the fear of the past,
If we don't want to drown in the mistakes of the previous world.
And so, we must run towards the sun. Many have called our ideas ludicrous, dangerous or just straight up impossible,
But nothing else has worked.
We must try this, the last hope we have,
Is to run towards the sun, light and hope,
And see whether we can transform the world into something better along the way.
As even as this year of chaos ends,
There will be unknown hopes, unknown things, and unknown dangers,
Over that edge of the unknown.
Well, wanna come?
This edge hides the solutions to all our problems,
The world of the future is over this edge,
And so to escape the past, we must go over.
Into the 2020s, to leave the 2010s behind.
And well, looking down onto such a dangerous but beautiful thing under my feet,
And looking back at the destroyed past,
Putting one foot over each other,
I jump over the edge,
To keep moving forward,
Towards whatever final destination awaits me next.('No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path.' Gautama Buddha)
