Percy's P.o.V.
I had just returned home after Apollo was crowned a god again. Finally, I could get some peace and quiet! "Oh, Styx! I just broke the first law of Percy Jackson. Things will start going wrong in 3...2..." "Ahh!" I heard a blood-curdling scream "...and one." I thought to myself.
I ran out onto the busy streets of Manhattan only to find Nancy Bobofit, my sixth-grade bully, Getting chased by none other than beef–head.
"Hey! You smelly old cow! I'm here! What are you chasing a mortal for?!" I exclaimed, hoping to get the Minotaur's attention.
He whipped his ugly head in my direction, growling. He probably recognised me from the three times I've killed him.
"Percy?!" Exclaimed Nancy, clearly shocked to see the kid she bullied stand up to whatever she was seeing. You see, the mist covers the truth from mortals so that they don't see things for what they are. I don't know what she saw, but clearly wasn't pretty.
I ignored her and uncapped my lethal ballpoint pen – Aklusmos – Ancient Greek for Riptide – and it instantly grew into a 3-foot-long Celestial Bronze sword with a double-edged blade that fit perfectly in my hand. "Come to die again?" I enquired of the monster.
He charged at me. I easily side-stepped and then jumped over him, landing on his head. I used all my weight to pull on one of his horns and SNAP! It broke off. He yelled in agony but his cries of anguish ended abruptly as he burst into golden monster dust when my blade came in contact with his throat.
I rushed back to my mother's apartment and added a fourth Minotaur horn to my ever-growing collection. I let out a sigh of relief and said, "Now I need to IM Chiron... How did the Minotaur reform so fast... I killed it like a few weeks ago... I need answers..." I opened my window, turned on the kitchen tap and made a mist in front of the sunlight pouring in to the living room through the glass, thus making a small but beautiful rainbow – perfect for an IM.
I fished (get the pun?! Son of Poseidon here!) my last drachma from my bag and tossed it into the rainbow. When the golden coin disappeared I chanted, "Oh Iri – Schist! I forgot! Let's start over shall we?" I cleared my throat and began again, "Oh Fleecy, do me a solid. Show Chiron at Camp Half-Blood."
The rainbow shimmered as usual and showed my centaur mentor playing and winning at pinochle against Mr.D in the Big House. Just as the game finished he whooped aggressively and noticed that he had an audience. I awkwardly smiled and waved before telling him what had happened.
"Sooo... Peter Johnson is in trouble again... interesting..." Mr. D said, collecting the cards and not paying attention to my story. "Nothing has changed since you were 12 has it..." he added, still not finding it the least bit worrying or intriguing how the Minotaur reformed so quickly.
Chiron stroked his beard thoughtfully, just like he always did while solving a complicated puzzle... what! The dude is like an open book! Or should I say centaur... or say think instead of say I mean think think instead of say... Oh Gods! Although it keeps you alive in battle, A.D.H.D. is very annoying when you are not about to die!
Chiron spoke up snapping me out of scolding my A.D.H.D. for being stupid. "I don't know what is happening but I think it's safe to say that you are needed at camp my child... there is something else you need to know..." Before giving me a chance to ask 'What the Hades are you talking about?!', Chiron waved his hand through the rainbow – cutting off the connection and leaving me staring at the blinding sunlight.
I shut my eyes at the sudden exposure to brightness and pulled down the blinds. I turned off the tap and sighed. "Mom's still not back from her first book signing... she's done really well as an author... but looks like I'll not be giving her a surprise... not today at least..." I muttered under my breath and with that I picked up my already packed bag which I had dropped off before running to demolish the Minotaur – and yes I did demolish him, thank you very much – and went out to my balcony. I blew my infamous New York taxi-cab whistle and in a matter of seconds – Blackjack was there.
Hey! What up boss! Got any donuts?! He started bombarding me with questions.
"No Blackjack, I don't have doughnuts but I'll get you some later..." I rolled my eyes. I swear you can get this Pegasus to do anything if you promise him doughnuts... "But right now, I need to get to camp!"
Blackjack neighed in approval and I hopped on. Together we flew over the clouds and made our way to half blood hill where I was greeted with the all-too-familiar scent of strawberries and a warm summer breeze...
