JORDYN KING'S LIFE had changed drastically over the past few years, in ways that she could've never imagined, but in ways that she wouldn't change for the world. Despite the chaotic theme that her life had taken on, she would never be able to return to her oversimplified lifestyle of avoiding most people and trying to remain separated from friendships or relationships. She was done living that lonely life, and Mercy Mikaelson's way of building the werewolf community had created a bond and loyalty among the wolves that Jordyn loved and cherished. She had never experienced the true werewolf way of being apart of a pack, and she enjoyed it immensely.

Not to mention—with the addition of new friendships also came a particular interesting love interest, one that Jordyn hadn't been expecting whatsoever.

Niklaus Mikaelson was an interesting man as much as he was a beast, teetering on the edge of both sides of himself. She could see the battling personalities within him—could see it like she saw her own reflection—and although it might've seemed selfish, the idea that someone as powerful and invincible as the Original Hybrid was struggling made her own self-doubts seem minuscule in comparison. It was one of the main things that drew her to him, even if she would never admit that out loud, lest she inflate his ego even more.

Mercy's father was complicated and irrational and sometimes downright manipulative, but there was vulnerability there too, as well as insecurities that he desperately tried to hide. Jordyn King had found herself sympathizing with him over the years against all odds. She tried her best to deny the compassionate feeling—for years she had quelled her emotions, knowing the history of how Niklaus Mikaelson tried turning numerous wolves into hybrids—but despite her best efforts, she found herself caring for him.

Not only that, but the relationship that she shared with Mercy definitely helped in understanding the hybrid more. The little girl had clung to Jordyn like a sinking body onto a lifesaver, trying to stay afloat. Because of the dependency Mercy had on Jordyn, the girl found it much easier to confide in the woman than her own father. As a result, Klaus had often come to Jordyn over the years hoping to better understand his daughter.

It had worked. Mercy and Klaus's relationship had mended somewhat since their last confrontation in New Orleans. However, Jordyn realized that, recently, Mercy had become much more distant from her father, and the act didn't go unnoticed by Klaus.

Jordyn shifted, burying her face deeper into the pillows to try and get a little more rest before the day truly started. She had been up late last night, trying to get ahold of Mercy after the argument between the two Mikaelsons had occurred. Klaus had come to her—quite distraught, if she had to say—about how he messed up the conversation between the father and daughter. She tried her best to calm him down, but to say that the hybrid was stubborn was the understatement of the century.
