Chapter Seven

Yvette's P.O.V.

Tumayo siya mula sa pagkakaupo at inahoy ang polo niyang bahagyang nagusot kasama na rin ng pagka roll up ng sleeves niya. Pinanood ko lang siyang gawin 'yon at nanatiling naka-upo.

"Will this be the last time na makikita kita?" I asked him, kaya napadako ang tingin niya sa akin habang inaayos parin ang polo niya. Nang maayos niya na ito, he smiled.

"You wanna see me every day? Marry me." He suggested like it was just nothing, mabuti nalang at hindi ako bad mood ngayon, kung hindi masasapak ko siya kahit hindi kami close. "Oh, scary." Tukoy niya sa tingin ko sa kaniya.

"You know what? Your face features shouts full of terror and seriousness, tapos ganiyan ka magtanong. You think everything's a joke? You think marriage is just a simple thing to joke about?" I blurted. Not that I'm super mad, but I just don't find it funny, because a lot of couples can't marry, tapos siya, he'll joke about--- okay ang babaw.

"Sorry..." he really looked sorry and I felt guilty for over acting.

"Shit, I'm sorry. I must be tired today kaya ganito, well, bad mood talaga ako all the time, lalo na today so that explains it all." I said and he gave me a small smile.

"No, it's okay. Do you want to go inside so you can have you rest na? The cake must've tire you out." He laughed, breaking the ice, so I laughed too. While on our way pabalik sa bahay, nakasalubong namin ang isa sa mga kasambahay na may dalawang wine and wine glass, but I asked her to just go back inside.

Pagbalik namin sa loob, nagkukwentuhan parin ang mga mommy naming habang nagka-kape sa sala. I excuse myself and went to the kitchen to see what can I drink or eat. Nang makakita ako ng cookies, I grabbed the box and shove one in my mouth and brought the remaining with me so I can share it to Nahj.

"Here." I offered him and he was just looking at it.

"You eat. I offered it." I was just joking, but I can see pressure in his eyes.

"But---"

"No buts!" I laughed and he ate it. Feeling ko nga, hindi man niya nginuya. He just swallowed it agad agad. Agad ko siyang inabutan ng tubig, dahil he looks like he was about to choke himself sa hindi niya pag-nguya.

Wala sila Mommy and Tita. Lumipat ng chika place, of course, they want to give Me and Nahj's some lone time, duh. Iyon naman talaga ang purpose ng pagpunta nila rito in the first place.

"You're an only child?" I nod.

"I thought you did your research before coming in here, tapos hindi mo alam na only child ako..." Natawa naman siya sa akin. Tumayo ako mula sa pagkaupo sa sofa upang abutin ang remote ng TV, "What about you? Do you have siblings?" He nodded in response.

"I'm the eldest, tapos lalaki 'yung susunod, bunso namin, babae. They're both teens. Actually, Narien will turn 18 next week. We'll send an invitation--- though I'm sure Mom already did." He laughed.

"Ah, I envy you for having sibs, especially younger ones. Gusto ko namang may i-spoil or may-i-baby sa life ko..." I sighed as I entered Netflix button sa remote namin.

"Well, if you don't want me personally... Maybe we could, like, make one, right?" Tinignan ko siya na parang nandiri ako sa sinabi niya kaya naman napahalakhak siya.

Grabe, Nahj, Grabe.

"Tatahimik ka or papalayasin kita?" I gave him a death glare jokingly. Agad naman niyang itinaas ang mga kamay niya na parang sumusuko na siya.

"I'm Nahj Devon Montenegro." He offered his hand for a hand shake and I accepted it, "Yvette. Elyvette Hilton."

Hindi pa ako nakakapili ng movie, agad namang dumating ang Mommy ni Nahj, she said that someone called from their house. I didn't get the details, but all I understand is that it's about his younger brother.

Hinatid naming sila ni Mommy sa labas. Naunang pumasok sa sasakyan si Tita Nadia. She's not riding with Nahj, so Mommy, being the most push pamore na typo of nanay, "You say goodbye to Nahj..." she smiled.

And, oh. That smile is sinful. I know what exactly is behind that smile.

"Bye, Nahj Devon." I said word by word and he smiled showing all of his perfectly aligned teeth. I wonder tuloy if he got braces when he was younger.

"It's see you again, Architect." He winked and before he went inside his car, may kinuha siya rito at bumalik ulit at may inabot sa akin. It was a bouquet of flower. Mix of roses and sunflowers.

Wala tuloy akong magawa kung hindi mapa-ngiti. It's been so long since I received a flower from a guy. Not that no one dared to give me one, but because I never allowed anyone to. Whenever Shaun tries to give me a bouquet, I always decline, refuse or even give it back to him. Not because I don't appreciate it, but because I just don't like the thought of it.

For me kasi, giving flowers and accepting it means a lot. It can me giving their trust or vice versa like allowing them to enter your life fully. Like, accepting flowers from them can mean trusting them with all your life. I know it's super oa and all pero this is what I think.

"Thanks for showing me your garden. It's been so long since I talked with just anything to a girl. It felt nice."

"Sorry, ha. But I thought you're a womanizer." I laughed and he shrugged, "Well, if ganito ako ka-guwapo for you to say that I can get all the women I want, then I think it'll be easy for me to make you say yes..." there was hint of uncertainty in his proud voice, but he's overly confident.

"You wish..." I rolled my eyeballs. Tumawa siya at itinulak ko na siya papasok sa sasakyan niya and waved a goodbye while my other hand is holding the bouquet. Umalis na siya and I quietly entered the house, dahil ayokong ma-Q and A kay Mommy.
