Chapter 3
It was hard to keep myself running. I was so nervous I felt like vomiting and turning right around and going back to England.
Axton was my rock, constantly sending me glanced that reassured me that he would protect me from anything.
About 30 minutes into running I felt such a massive shift in the air that it stopped me and made me stagger to stay up.
We kept running and pretened not to notice the large wolves that were running on the sides of us, they didn't look pleased. They weren't very good at hiding either.
Eventually we ran into a massive clearing and the wolves formed a tight circle around us. We could easily get out and I wanted to but they didn't know we were special, I changed my wolf to be much smaller and light brown with green eyes. We smudged mud on the red streak in Axton's fur so he just looked black and dirty, we couldn't change the eyes though so he decided he just would look at anybody.
Speaking of eyes, mine hurt because of the size they had grown to. There was a literal castle in front of us and we were rapidly approaching. It was made of dark stone and looked homey and terrifying at the same time.
And the royal family was standing in the front of it with hard expressions on their faces. The man who was my brother was wearing a black dress shirt with black jeans and looked bored. My parents, I guess, were wearing clothing similar to the ones in the picture but they had grey in their hair and looked more tired than the picture.
"What business do you have here?" The king boomed.
Axton shifted back, we decided that he would do the speaking. Their nostrils immediately flared and the guards spat 'vampire' with disgust and advanced towards him.
'STAY BACK!' I ordered in their minds and jumped in from of Axton with a snarl. They immediately whimpered and went back.
"Well, I was just curious if you lost a daughter, say...18 years ago?" Axton asked quietly and the royal family took in a breath while the queen burst into tears.
Well now was the time. I broke my concentration, slowly so they saw it happen as I let my blood red coat through. I looked into the kings eyes with my silver ones before shifting back to human form.
"Tada," I smiled sheepishly as they stared at me. This was even more awkward then I expected.
"MY BABY!" The queen yelled and ran towards me. I caught her and she started sobbing into me. I had never had a mother figure hug me before, only Marie.
"Katrina, we should really make sure. It could be another imposter..." The king mumbled but he was staring at me again.
She pulled away from me but kept her arms wrapped around me. "Are you insane Elric?! She has your eyes! What's your name sweetheart?" She turned to me with such hope in her eyes that I smiled and tears appeared in my own eyes.
"Dove Katrina Langley. I guess it's not Langley anymore." I laughed. "And this is my mate Axton Maron." I motioned to him and he smiled.
"Mate?" My father asked with wide eyes and Axton looked scared.
"Yes. I met him earlier this year and I changed him even though he is still a vampire mostly. There's...more but that's all I'll say right now," I glanced at Axton and he looked even paler and he gulped.
"Very well. Come inside." The king ushered us inside.
The guy who I guess is my brother smiled at me as he walked next to me and opened his mouth to speak until a screech made me cringe.
"And who the hell are you with my Robin!?" A busty girl with black and purple hair shimmied over and locked herself onto Robins arm.
"We both have bird names eh? Well, I'm Dove. His sister, and this is my mate Axton." I motioned to my still pale mate and my brother narrowed his eyes at him.
"Valentina," she sneered her own name at me and but her hand out for me to shake. Her handshake was loose and fast before she put her hand back on Robin. He looked slightly disgusted so she couldn't have been his mate.
The purple streaks in her hair look like they were drawn with marker, not trying to be rude, it was just a fact. Her hazel eyes were heavily caked with dark makeup probably to appeal to my brothers style.
I'll have to ask about her and him when we got wherever we were going. I grabbed Axton and pulled him towards the doors the Royals had gone through and walked into a magnificent room.
