[Chapter 6]

It's been about a week since I first snuck out of the house to meet up with the boys and Eve, and I've seen them all nearly everyday since. I tend to get an ominous text from one of them, either at night or in the morning, asking what I'm doing and seeing as I have no friends here yet, I'm always free. Meaning I'm constantly being pushed into that yellow hummer, or Michaels old car, and driven around senselessly but having a good time regardless.

Assuming that today would be no different I got up and made my way to my closet, getting dressed in something that will allow me to not burn to death in the Australian heat. I like to always be appropriately dressed now, just for when that text comes through. It makes quickly slipping out of the house without Luke noticing much easier. And it must be working because he has no idea.

After putting on what I think was a decent outfit I began making my way down the large staircase, trying to avoid eye contact with the framed pictures on the wall of what this family once was. I stepped into the kitchen expecting it to be empty, but was met with three familiar faces, mum, Andrew and Luke. great. I awkwardly smiled in their general direction, but luckily mum always knew when I felt uncomfortable and she started talking.

"Morning hun" she said cheerily, standing up to get me a plate of whatever they were all eating. I stepped back to give her way, looking completely out of place in the kitchen. She walked back placing the plate in front of an empty seat beckoning me to sit down, I obliged.

"So" she started as she sat back down in her own seat,
"Me and Andrew were thinking that we would have a little weekend getaway"
Her smile could have lit up a room, but I knew she was waiting for my answer. If I would have given off even the slightest bit of uncertainty in staying alone she would change the subject immediately.
"Sounds fun" I said, giving back a kind smile to let her know it was okay.
"Uh, where to?" I asked quickly afterwards, playing with the food on my plate.
"Well, we were thinking just to stay in a hotel by the beach. Nothing too fancy, just a place to have some alone time" Andrew answered, elbowing my mum playfully and laughing.
I inwardly cringed but gave him a quick smile. As the conversation resumed my eyes glanced over to Luke who was seated on the opposite end of the table, but his eyes were already on me. I shot my eyes down and carried on eating, not looking back to him the whole time we were there.

After breakfast I quickly walked back up to my room, shutting and locking the door behind me. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and read the lockscreen, it was thursday. Mum and Andrew would be going away tomorrow for their weekend getaway and I'd be stuck here with luke. Great. I let out a quiet groan and let myself fall onto my bed, submerging my head between the fluffy pillows as my mind raced through the possible events of the weekend. But not wanting to let myself get sucked into my thoughts I took my phone again and started scrolling through whatever could distract me.

As per usual a notification popped up on my screen amidst my scrolling. I held onto it before it could disappear and opened the message.

From Michael
"busy? ;)"

I rolled my eyes playfully, already knowing where this was going.

Emma
"Terribly actually, I haven't had a moment to myself for days!"

I joked back, just curious to see his reaction because of how truly bored I actually was.

From Michael
"Oh shit for real? :("

Emma
"Of course not lmao. text me when you guys are outside, see u soon <3"

And with that I jumped off my bed, sticking my phone into my pocket and quickly fixing my hair and clothes, waiting for Michael to text back. I walked over to the window and saw that the driveway looked empty, Andrews car was gone. Which meant that both him and mum had already left for work, making me feel slightly relieved. Although I know that they wouldn't have anything against me making new friends, them knowing would ultimately lead to Luke finding out. And that was a risk I was not willing to take just yet. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket and pulled it out, already making my way out of my bedroom.

From Michael
" we're outside <3"

I locked my phone and made it to the front door, scanning my surroundings for any indication of Luke's presence. When I was sure he wasn't there I put my shoes on and slipped out of the house, keys and wallet in hand as I jogged over to the famous yellow hummer.

As I made it closer to the car, the door opened from the inside for me, revealing a smiling ashton. I jumped in next to him in the backseat, closing the door before greeting them all.

"Not too busy to hang out with us huh?" Michael joked, turning around quickly to look at me.
I playfully slapped the back of his shoulder, "I'm never too busy for you guys".
As I leaned back into my seat Eve spoke up, "so what're we doing today?" she asked, wiggling her eyebrows as she held onto the back of Calum's seat.
"Just driving around babe" Ashton said, before reaching into his bag and pulling out an aux cord, "and listening to all of MY favourite albums" he added, grinning goofily.
A groan echoed throughout the car as Ashton stuck his head between the two front seats and connected the aux cord, then swiftly leaning back and presing shuffle on his Spotify playlist.

We drove around aimlessly for a few hours, making stops at random gas stations and empty parks. I flmed some stupid videos with Eve and the boys in the background for the abundenance of followers that I've seamlessly neglected since the move, posting only one or two updates on twitter since I arrived. They seemed to take a liking to the ridiculousness and showered the uploads in likes and comments, making me smile to myself. I hadn't told anyone here exactly how many followers I had, but they didn't seem to be bothered and gladly joined in on the videos.

I was dropped off before mum and Andrew got back from work, sliding out of the car before waving goodbye to them as they drove off. This was the stressful part of sneaking out, going back in and hoping that all went unnoticed. I climbed up the drive and quietly began unlocking the door, only to be met with an empty hallway, good. I pulled off my shoes and began walking towards the staircase, when the sound of someone clearing their throat stopped me dead in my tracks.

"I thought you'd never come back" the voice dryly spat. Making me turn to face them, only to be met with Luke's clearly angered face hidden behind a menacing grin.

I rolled my eyes, not in the mood to have my day ruined by his arrogance and carried on walking towards the stairs. For all he knew I could have been out by myself.

"Oh so we have an attitude today" he laughed, moving himself between me and the stairs, blocking me from going up to my room.
"How about you tell me who you were with" he demanded through gritted teeth, no longer hiding his anger. I felt a shiver go down my spine as goose bumps raised themselves along my arms, he definitely knows.
"What's it to you?" I managed to let out, trying to hide my growing fear of the situation.
"I think you fucking know" he spat, just making me more annoyed than scared.
"Then I think you fucking know who I was with' I replied as momentary confidence had evidently taken over. And with that I pushed past him and climbed quickly up the stairs, completely annoyed and angered at the situation.
Who does he think he is?
