(Outfit of the top)
I was sitting in a small London café when I caught the scents. I sighed and grabbed my black trench coat and shrugged it on as I paid the tip for my small coffee. I walked out of the café and into the semi warm weather and under the cloudy skies. I knew they were following me but I wanted to talk somewhere on my terms since I didn't know who they were only that they were gifted as I could feel the same surge I felt a few weeks ago when I was in the field with my family and the nomads. One was a tracking sense that was a thousand times better than James's gift ever was and the other was lie detection and forcing someone to tell the truth. I didn't care much for the ability to appear human although I would try it out to see if I'd be able to eat human food for the first time in 78 years. I entered another one of the Cullen's houses as they stopped on the edge of the trees. This house wasn't as open as the one in Forks.
"Come in when you're ready." I tell them. "I don't bite." I walked into the living room shrugging my jacket off laying it on the couch, and only waited an hour before they made an appearance. "Took you long enough. Now do you mind telling me why you followed me?" I ask, biting back my accent when I noticed the necklace around their necks. Volturi.
I waited patiently for one of them to reply.
"We were just curious. Especially since this is one of the Cullen's houses and last we heard there were only 7 of them." The female said with a slight mix of Romanian and Italian accent. She had dark black hair and red eyes as she was out of sight of the humans.
"I've only joined their coven recently. I was a nomad for a while." I tell them keeping my accent locked up knowing if they heard it they'd most likely figure out that I was turned by Stefan and Vladimir. "Who are you? I mean I know your Volturi and all." I ask.
"I'm Demetri and this is my mate Luna." Demetri says. He had sandy blonde hair that was spiked up.
"Let me guess you are the tracker and you are the one who can appear human and can detect if someone is telling the truth or not." I say pointing to Demetri when I said tracker and Luna when I said her gift.
"How did you know?" They asked simultaneously after sharing a look.
"I'm a copycat. Just by being in your proximity I have your gift even when you're back in Volterra." I say. I thought about talking of my other gift but decided against it. "I also have another gift but I'll let you find out later on what that one is." They nodded understanding.
"We told you our names, what about you?" Demetri asked.
"Alexis." I say as my phone rings. I sigh and look at the caller I.D. Alice before I answer it. "Yes Alice?"
"When are you coming back?" She asked.
I rolled my eyes. I knew she was only asking to see if I'd be there for Bella's birthday. "Not anytime soon Ali. I'm gonna try and see if I can find the red-head again. But tell Bella I said happy birthday." I tell her before ending the call. I looked back at the 2 Volturi members. "Demetri, I was wondering how your gift works."
"Why?" He asked.
"My family and I ran into a problem with 3 nomads. We killed the tracker but we fear his mate will come back and try and hurt my brother. I've been trying to find her but every time I get close she's gone. She has this enhanced self preservation ability." I explained.
"So you've been around the vampire who could possibly seek revenge?" He asked. I nodded. "You've basically tasted her mind even with this other tracking ability. So since you've copied mine you should be able to feel her tenor anywhere in the world." He says. "You might not catch her but you will know when she is back in Forks where your family is currently." I nodded as I felt the tenors of both my families in my head. I could also feel the tenor of Laurent and Victoria. "You got it?" He asked.
"Yeah. Thanks." I say. And for once I meant it as I thanked the Volturi tracker.
"So is that why you're here." Luna asked. "Because she was last here." She added.
"No. I stopped here in London because I was meeting some old friends." I say. "I guess I better try and get back to Forks to be there after my brother's girlfriend's birthday." I tell them as I grab my bag that I had packed before I left the house for the café.
"We could fly you there if you want." Luna says. I consider it before replying.
"Are you sure?" I asked. They both nodded. "Then lead the way." I say as I shrug my jacket on. As there was a light breeze in the air we ran all the way to the airport. As I stepped onto the Volturi's private jet I smelled the scent of another vampire but it was a few days maybe even weeks old. 'Must be another Volturi guard.' I thought to myself. It reminded me of the smell of rain and books with the underlying hint of danger and numbness. I shook it off and grabbed one of my favorite books by Shakespeare out of my bag. Even though I could read the book in a matter of seconds I chose to take my time as I didn't want to talk to the other two. I had just finished reading Romeo and Juliet when the jet landed in Seattle. I thanked the two Volturi guards and placed my book back in my bag before I ran all the way back to Forks while sticking to the woods.
